Part 18

Today Kim Jun was hosting a party. It would have been to announce his engagement, but since that would no longer happen, he simply decided to celebrate it as Suho's recovery. They were holding it in a garden in a luxurious hotel.

Luhan was intimidated by the gazes that were being directed towards him and Suho smiled when the younger quickly hurried over to hide behind him.

"What are you doing?" he asked the wide eyed Luhan.

"Hiding? The way some of the guests are staring at me makes me uncomfortable." He pouted.

He wished Sehun was here. But the doctor had gone to work happily, glad that he need not attend the gathering.

"Suho-shi? When will the rest get here?"

Suho pointed out Baekhyun and Kai who had just arrived. He stilfled a laugh as Luhan quickly ran to them. Suho shook his head.

"Sometimes I wonder if Luhan is actually Baekhyun's brother."

He sighed as he spotted the rest arriving as well.He wished he could join them, unfortunately , he had to entertain the group of his father's business partners who had suddenly swarmed around him to enquire after his health.

Kim Jun glared at Luhan who was laughing at Chanyol's joke. That boy was a torn in his side. Luhan reminded Kim Jun that he had made a mistake that may have cost him his son's life. But instead of being grateful, Kim Jun felt humiliated. He had truly trusted Candy. He had fallen for her youth and what he had believed was innocence. He had felt young again and he was smug when he saw the envious looks his counterparts cast him. Now he felt embarrassed as his friends made snide remarks about how he was cheated. He felt the sudden urge to wipe the smile of the young boy's face – to make him feel as humiliated as him. He was also disconcerted by looks of disdain EXO cast upon him as they simply acknowgled his presence with a nod.

Something had changed about their perspective towards him. They used to respect him for the sake of Suho. Now it seemed as though they were barely tolerating his presence. He ignored their looks as he walked to the clearing in the centre of the garden from where every one can see and hear him.

The small group was still laughing when they suddenly heard Kim Jun clear his throat. They simply rolled their eyes as they watched. Luhan too had noticed the shift in EXO's behavior towards the elder but he was oblivious as to why. He made a mental note to ask Xuimin later.

"Thank you everyone for gracing me with your presence today. I hope you enjoyed the food as much as I enjoyed your delightful presence."

Baekhyun scoffed as he took a sip of his wine.

"This small party was to celebrate my son's full recovery from an accident he had almost a month ago. Its funny how he had similar accident prior to his thirteenth birthday" Kim Jun laughed.

Luhan frowned at how the man was casually making a joke about an accident that hurt his son so badly. He looked at the group surrounding him, he felt them suddenly stiffen. He was puzzled as to why their gazes seemed so full of anger as they listened to Kim Jun's speech. Luhan started when Kim Jun caught his gaze.

"Some of you were wondering about the presence of the young boy who is unfamiliar to you."

He directed the attention of the guests to a flushed Luhan who felt awkward as the guests now studied him mostly with contempt.

"He is an orphan who was adopted by my ex- wife. She has passed away unfortunately, and he was passed on to Suho. "

Luhan frowned as he hid himself slightly behind Kai. He didn't like how Kim Jun was describing like he was burden or an object.
