It almost felt like a scene from the movies, the feeling of something tugging at your heart forcing you to smile in awe of something but Renjun felt none of that as he sketched the woman seated elegantly on a hammock, a simple cloth made hammock hanging between two trees in the backyard, the sound of birds chirping audible as he portrayed her body beautifully with a pencil.
Renjun's left hand had pencil shades around the side of his palm, all from working hard for a good drawing. He had his eyes glued to the large sheet of paper and then he looked back at the girl to continue on the sketch, his eyebrows frowning at the sight.
"You changed your position?" He asked loud as clear making Hyunsoo raise her eyebrows.
"I was in the same position for a good 45 minutes already, I move for one second and you react like that?" Hyunsoo said, a small pout forming as she complained and Renjun felt the effect of his short tempered self, head going through the burning sensation he always felt when he was annoyed.
He said nothing, simply sighing before going back to his sketch, drawing straight and curved lines around her dress. Hyunsoo kept sighing on and on, feeling the similar burn on her upper arm from having it raised above her head as she laid on the hammock. The girl only hoped for the sketch to be done anytime soon, her patience running out as she looked towards Renjun but that very second his head raised up to take a look at her before going back to his drawing.
Hyunsoo whipped her back to the initial position and waited till he turned back, this time instead if turning to look at him she fixed her eyes glued to the humid sky above her, hues of blue and grey dawning upon them.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" Hyunsoo being her normal self, asked out of simple inquisition and a normal need to break the large silence they shared for a whole hour.
"That's a personal question, don't you think?" Renjun said and Hyunsoo smirked.
"So you don't" Hyunsoo said and through her peripheral vision she saw him shake his head.
"Don't you wanna know how I know that?" Hyunsoo asked with her gleaming smile.
"I'd prefer a more silent atmosphere while I do my job," Renjun said before continuing to shade on the necessary part, already done with her lower body and a part of the hammock.
"Yeah, you definitely don't have a girlfriend then," Hyunsoo says and ends up making her words sound like mocking even when she didn't mean to but Renjun never really bothered much, simply wanting to get done with his assignment before moving on to his next.
"Do you like rainbows? I love rainbows!" Hyunsoo says breaking the silence once again, staring deeply at the sky above. When she didn't earn any response from him, instead of being offended, she was more than glad.
"I've loved rainbows ever since I was three, for Pete's sake, those six colors really make my day-"
"Six? Don't rainbows have seven colors?" Renjun asked, his eyes still looking at the sheet as he sketched down the detailed upper body of the girl, from her waist then curving up and back down for her neck. His eyes rose up again to look at her before outlining the side of her face and Renjun realized the girl truly was beautiful.
"That's for the world, I mean, you tell me, who even uses indigo, it has no reason to exist whatsoever, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, six colors, beautiful and all of them go well with each other. Indigo can die," Hyunsoo explains passionately while Renjun purses his lips before responding.
"I'm a painter you know, I use indigo a lot," he ends shortly and Hyunsoo resisted the urge to look at him and gawk at the words he spoke.
"Anyways, what's your favorite ice cream, flavour?" Hyunsoo asked, quickly changing the topic and things felt quite ironic. Unlike other models, serious and glamorous, Hyunsoo seemed a lot more bubbly and talkative, Renjun never once spoke to his personal clients, simply handing them their portraits and leaving, never having any other contact with them.
"I don't eat ice cream," Renjun says before quietly going back to his drawing, putting in all her facial features, her plump lips and straight nose, small forehead and beautiful hairline.
Hyunsoo gasped before turning to look at Renjun this time, not being able to escape as Renjun looked at her the very same time. The boy breathed in, glaring at her after and Hyunsoo gave Renjun an apologetic smile before turning back to her position from before.
The girl thought back to everything that happened in the last few hours, from how he spoke to her, not all that much but still something. She saw something different in him from every other person she knew in the last few years and the inquisition in her rose once again.
"Haven't you heard about me in the news?" Hyunsoo asked, a bit of insecurity sounding clear in her voice but she maintained her grace while posing for the portrait.
Renjun shifted his gaze towards her only momentarily, pleased to see that she remained motionless for him to portray, her long legs giving her a graceful and mature look, he moves his gaze back to the half done portrait.
"I don't watch news about models if that's what you're trying to ask me," Renjun said shortly, his voice contained a monotone like every other time. Hyunsoo hadn't met him long ago but she felt her heart fall at ease when he said that he didn't know about her from the news.
She smiled while her eyes were still fixed at the skies abovee her head, thankful that he wasn't being nice to her out of pity but simply because he wanted to.
