Hours turned to days, it had already been six days since she last heard from Kim. Wontaek had been quiet like he said and so she was finally by herself. Not having much to do, she simply looked through the series of comments that went wild for her magazine.
She left Renjun little voice messages every night, in hopes that he would at least listen to them, but even that didn't happen. Hyunsoo realised she was back to the life she lived when she hadn't met Renjun, a quiet and boring life, only thing different now was that she earned a title for herself.
Renjun's phone died the day he reached the beach, he didn't want to speak to Hyunsoo then and when Kim called him, he had no other choice. That was his last call and his phone had switched off since. He found a little room in the beach where he stayed for those six days, away from the city world. Not many came to the beach and so he could use the time to get himself together.
As much as he tried to forget about her, he couldn't help himself. He knew he couldn't fight with himself and so he let his thoughts conquer over him. He could still hear her voice in her head, despite the sound of waves crashing and falling against each other. Without his phone, he spent hours in front of the sea, watching the high tides as they flowed beautifully on certain days.
A sudden thought filtered his mind, he hadn't submitted one of the portraits. It wasn't like he finished it either, and he secretly didn't want to. He needed to at least tell the model that he wasn't gonna do her portrait and so he walked to the little room he rented beside the huge sea. He looked for his phone and changed his clothes before walking out.
The clothes he brought for himself from the beach were all vacation outfits, one of which he liked he wore that day. He walked all the way to the nearest shop and waited for the owner to notice him.
"Can I help you?" The man asked when he noticed Renjun standing there.
"I just need to get this phone charged," he said and the man nod his head before motioning for the boy to enter.
"You can plug it there, 5 dollars for an hour okay?" The man asked and Renjun took out the money, he was short of 1 dollar and so he looked at the man apologetically.
"You look like you're here to spend alone time so just pay me before you leave," the man said and Renjun bowed, thanking the man and plugging in his phone to the charger.
The evening was colder than usual, his thin, blue ombre shirt wasn't helping much either, the shirt lacked the first two buttons, revealing a little bit of his chest and collar bones, all because he left his house with only 50 dollars in his wallet.
An hour passed and it was already 7 PM, the air was colder when he stepped foot in the little shop.
"Thank you, Sir," Renjun called out, waving his hand with a smile before leaving to walk all the way back to the little house.
He realised he wasn't the kind to wave at others or smile before bidding goodbye, especially not with strangers. Just how much the girl brushed on his personality really made him feel flustered as he walked into his house, finally switching the phone on and looking for the contact.
- Sorry but I wouldn't be doing your portrait...
He left the contact of that woman and deleted any of its data from his phone. He noticed the number of texts and audio messages he had received in the last six days.
- Hope you're eating well.
- Don't get hurt anywhere.
- I'm sorry if I did something that hurt you.
He stopped reading after that, does she not know what she has done? Renjun grit his teeth together, fighting the urge to call her till another audio message came up. It was sent to him only a second ago and he thought over and over before starting it.
- I don't know where you are but please be okay, it's dull here without you, and again, I'm sorry if I got you mad...
He acted on instinct when he went on his caller list and searched for her name, his finger hovered over the contact for a few seconds before he finally clicked. The ringing made his heart tremble in nervousness, his throat went dry and he licked his lips as she finally picked up.
"Hello?"
