We've been walking for some time now and the night has only gotten darker, the journey has been silent but it was the comfortable silence that allowed us to hear the world around us, but I fear the silence allowed Niklaus to further hear what I was thinking, or more of what I wanted to think about.

"No matter how loud the world around us is, I can hear your thoughts whenever I please little one." Niklaus said, breaking the silence that surrounded us.

I looked up to him afraid to ask the questions that were creeping throughout my mind and trying to hide from him. As usual, he knew I had a something to ask. "Ask your question." He said.

I looked to the path ahead of us and built up the courage to do so, after a few seconds of preparation I took a deep breath and let it fall from my mouth. "Could you stop listening to my thoughts?" I asked and immediately felt his head turn and look at me but before he could respond I blurted the rest of the question. "Just until we get to our destination. Please?" I looked up at him when I said please, hoping that maybe he'd oblige.

"Why?" He said, looking back to the trail we were on. I followed his eyes and looked ahead, thinking of the correct wording for this response.

"Because I have a few things I want to talk to you about, I want to be honest with you before you read my thoughts."

From the corner of my eye I could see him shrug. "Fine, as long as you're being honest. Now, what is it you want to discuss?"

A took a deep breath and rubbed my sweaty palms on the shirts material.

"We're now out in the open and I don't really know where we're going but I assume it's not underground so that means the angels can see us now, which also means it'll be easier for them to come after us. What I'm trying to ask is when they do come can you kill me before they do?"

I had walked a few feet before I realized he was no longer by my side, when I did I turned to see that he was just standing there, motionless as if I had said something so unbelievable it left him lifeless. I walked to him and his eyes only followed me, "Niklaus?" I asked. He remained frozen for just a little more before shaking his head and walking onwards.

"Come on, like I said, we have a long journey, there's no time for your silly questions." He said as he walked past me. I hurried to catch up to him and for a while it was silent, it seems the insects realized the tension and stopped their chirping along with the owls hooting. I dared to not speak because I was in no mood to do so, he thinks my request to be nothing more than a silly question? I've seen him kill countless numbers of women but when I ask him to grant me the same fate he tenses up like it's the most ridiculous request he has ever heard. Why won't he spare me the pain of fear and worry and just take my life as he has done the others, am I asking too much? Have I not been deemed worthy enough to kill. Or is it my blood? Alina said something about my womb, he would only need it to continue the bloodline, that's all that is stopping him.

"If I bear children before the angels come then will you do it?" I asked, looking up in time to see his face morph into a disapproving frown but he said nothing. As the seconds ticked by his frown fell and the walking continued. I grabbed onto his arm and pulled him to a stop, forcing his body to turn and look at me. "Please Niklaus."

His frown returned more defined than before as he pulled his hand from my grasp and grabbed my shoulder with a painful grip of his own.

"Listen to me very closely," He growled out. "I would kill anyone who dared to touch you, let alone inseminate you. You will never speak of such nonsense again, is that understood?"

My eyes began to water as I tried desperately to fight back the tears. Through my oncoming emotions I nodded my head. "Yes Niklaus." I whispered, but unfortunately his grip only tightened on my shoulders.
