I don't know how long I've been asleep for and quite frankly even now I don't want to open my eyes. I just want to lay here, in this warm and soft bed, I love my bed.
I had come to only a few minutes ago but my eyes remained closed as I laid in bed soaking in its warmth and softness, trying to remember the strange dream I had of the man from the diner. None of it made sense but every inch of me crawled as I recalled that horrid dream.
"Are you awake now, little one?"
My eyes opened to reveal that this was in fact not my bed but that of a strangers and to reveal that I was no longer in my bedroom but in a dark and dreary cave, the sterotypical kind, with stalactites hanging from the ceiling and a few protruding from the walls. His voice made something in me click to life as if it were a rusty machine that delivered its first click in years before stopping once again.
I hadn't gotten up due to the fear that was once again coursing its way through my body and paralyzing me in place.
"Come on now Beasty, get up, we have much to discuss." Niklaus said from a red vintage wingback chair with the red hue from the fireplace shedding light on his face, looking as if he and it were of another time. And just possibly he could be, if my dream were in fact a past reality he may just be the monster from before and could even be from another time. It's possible that for the last few months I've stared into the face of a monster and even admired his beauty, his false beauty that only works to disguise the monster within.
"I do not wish to repeat myself. Up, now, Beasty."
I couldn't move, the memories all flooded back and left me motionless in this bed.
I figure Niklaus has realized this and decided to take matters into his own hands once again. He stood from his seat and cleared the space between us with grace. Standing at the side of the bed with one hand in his pocket and the other with a finger curling in front of me, beckoning me to come forward.
That gear within me clicked once again.
"Come here." He commanded.
The gear clicked again. Harder, stronger.
His finger curled once more, calling me forward but there I lay under blankets just staring up at him.
I should run, I need to run.
"Do not run, it will not end well for you." The amusement he had from last night had vanished and he was now simply just commanding me with a short patience.
I didn't think, I only moved, out from under the blanket, fumbling out until my body fell to the ground of the cave. I scurried to my feet and backed away as fast as I could only to be stopped by the wall of the cave. I looked all around for an exit but it seems the only one was past him, I'd have to get around him to--
To what?
What is it that I want to do?
"Escape? Run away?" Niklaus said as he gestured towards the entrance.
Yes, that's what I wanted to do, run away, get away from him, from this demented beast.
As my thoughts finished his hand was around my throat, pinning me against the wall behind me; his eyes glowing their bright red through the dark cave.
"You will obey me."
The gear within clicked again twice, stronger than before.
"You will not try to run."
Three times, continuing its fight to start up.
"Do you understand?" He asks, his eyes two red pools that I couldn't pull away from and somehow, something within spoke for me.
