//3 YEARS LATER\\
I slipped on my fluffy slippers when I heard familiar whimpering cries coming from the room down the hall.
I quickly glanced at Noah, who lay in a deep sleep on the other side of the king size bed and quietly padded down the hall, careful not to wake my fiancé.
I soundlessly pushed open the door to my daughter's bedroom to find my two year old sitting up in her bed, sucking her thumb with wide, worried eyes.
"Have a bad dream baby?" I asked her soothingly as I flicked on her nightlight. Ellie nodded her head as I climbed under the duvet beside her, tucking a stray lock of her chestnut hair behind her ear. She wrapped her small arms around me and buried her head into my chest as I rubbed comforting circles on her back and I soon heard her soft snores, signalling that she had fallen asleep.
There was no question about it; I loved my daughter, it was one of the only aspects of my life of which I was completely certain. But her all too familiar forest green eyes served a constant reminder of my careless, teenage mistake, and because of my actions, my daughter only knew of one of her parents. Her father wasn't even aware of her existence.
I awoke to the aroma of bacon and pancakes wafting through the air, and I was alone in the small children's bunk.
I found Ellie in the kitchen of our rented suite in the hotel, sitting on the countertop fascinated by Noah effortlessly flipping pancakes. I smiled comfortingly as her little giggles sifted through my ears.
"Morning babe." Noah greeted me with a pleasant kiss as I leant into him, allowing him to wrap his muscular arm around my waist. "Enjoying vacation?"
Noah, Ellie and I were staying in California for a week on holidays with my best friend and her boyfriend. It was our last day today and we'd be heading home just after lunch time so that we could be prepared for our wedding in just 7 days.
I nodded happily. "Where's Amy and Logan?" I asked, noticing their absence.
Noah chuckled. "Oh they're still asleep, if you know what I mean," he replied.
I swatted his bare chest with my hand as I laughed, lifting Ellie off the kitchen counter. "Come on, let's get you dressed before breakfast," I told her with a gentle smile, leaving Noah to deal with the deliciously smelling food.

"I wish I had a kid. Ellie's so cute," Amy sighed wishfully as we relaxed in the lobby of the hotel a few hours later, watching my over-enthusiastic toddler mess about in the play area.
Amy had been my best friend ever since kindergarten. During elementary, middle and high school we were attached to the hip. We were polar opposites however. Amy's lovely bronze tan contrasted with my pale, fair skin. Her shiny, ebony hair ended at her sculpted shoulders, never a strand out of place and my hair was an auburn, curly mess, reaching the middle of my back. She was tall and walked with elegance and pride, able to show off her big bust while I was small and thin and had struggled with getting my bra size past a 'B'. She was the popular one with all the confidence, whilst I regularly caused catastrophes with my unbalanced co-ordination and clumsiness. Amy had ample money to spend, as I had to scrape by and work my ass off before I met Noah.
I guess you could say that I was a little bit jealous, but I still loved her regardless.
"Hey do you mind keeping an eye on her while I get us smoothies? I'm dying for a drink," I said, getting up off the plush lobby sofa we had been sitting on.
"Sure Clary, I'll wait here," Amy replied, whipping out her phone."Grab me a strawberry and banana smoothie please?"
I laughed as I agreed with her, pushing my sunglasses back onto my head and walking to the cafe that was in the hotel.
I waited patiently for my smoothies and I was admiring how clean the place was when I sensed someone standing behind me.
"Oh sorry, I'm not in the queue I already-" I broke off when my eyes met a somewhat familiar face. His dark ray bans shading his appearance. His dark, tumbling hair reached his shoulders and his strong jawline was traced with stubble. His harsh eyebrows furrowed as he noticed me staring.
I was jerked out of my trance when the barista handed me my drinks and I fumbled nervously in my purse for change, feeling my face flush with colour and heart pound like a drum in my stomach. I remembered him from somewhere, I just couldn't fit the missing piece.
I hastily spun around and thanks to my overwhelming clumsiness, I collided with the same guy behind me.
Feeling a cold, lumpy liquid seep through my favourite white top, I sighed in exasperation.
"Shit, I'm so sorry," I pathetically apologised to the boy behind me when I realised that I had splattered his black boots with strawberry and banana smoothie.
"These boots were bloody expensive," he grumbles in his deep voice, his intricate British accent clear.
He removed his sunglasses and I studied his heavy eyebrows and jade eyes until it hit me like a bus.
The smoothie I had been holding in my other hand also dropped to the floor as my mouth lay open with a combination of shock and bewilderment.
"Harry?!"
