I stared at him in complete shock as I let the sticky smoothie continue to ooze down my chest. Harry's face was equally blank as he stood frozen to the spot.
"Uh, sorry, but who are you?" He asked finally after an eternity.
I felt my face heat up and I knew I was blushing furiously as embarrassment burned my skin. "Clary," I squeaked. "Clary Kutcher."
He continued to look at me with a clueless expression as I stood there panicking internally, cursing fiercely in my mind, asking myself why I was so immensely stupid as to even acknowledge him in the first place. I was going to be humiliated and look like a fool because I remembered him, and I wasn't even worth the memory.
I watched in embarrassment as his face twisted into a look of disgust and he laughed coldly. "Clary Kutcher? What the fuck are you doing here?"
If I thought I was humiliated enough already, this just topped it off. Every head in the cafe was turned our way, seemingly entertained by the scene.
I hadn't expected him to be so rude and inconsiderate. Most of all, I was confused at his behaviour. I hadn't seen him in three years, and I was oblivious to why there would be any bad blood between us.
I held my breath as he waited for me to answer him, but I was not the kind to be outspoken, I had nothing to say.
"You should probably get a napkin for that," he said suddenly, when he realised I was not going to reply, nodding his head towards my top, he then turned on his heel and left the cafe, letting the doors swing closed behind him with a loud slam.
I stood stuck to the spot as I stared after him in silence. So I was humiliated in front of everyone in the room..
"Ma'am, I'm terribly sorry for the mess. Let me replace those cups," the barista spoke behind me, breaking the awkward silence as I sighed and allowed her to give me complementary drinks as I dabbed my sodden chest with napkins. At least everyone else had gone back to their chatting and eating after a few hushed whispers and giggles.
With my spirits dampened and a pink smoothie stain down my front, I returned to the lobby to find Amy, Logan and Noah standing around with our luggage. Ellie was sitting on the sofa, playing games on Noah's phone with her favourite Minnie Mouse teddy bear under her arm.
I handed one of the smoothies to Amy and she turned around to face me. "Thanks hone- what on earth happened you?" She exclaimed loudly.
"It's nothing, just let me go to the bathrooms and change," I explained with a sigh, giving the other smoothie to Logan as I had no appetite anymore.
"Well hurry up, the bus will be here soon to take us to the airport," she warned me.
I grabbed my suitcase and began walking towards the ladies bathroom when I heard Noah's voice calling me back.
"Babe, could you take Ellie too? I need to get some things sorted out at reception," he asks me. I agree and carry Ellie on one hip while dragging my suitcase along with my other hand, my handbag over my shoulder.
I push open the mother-and-baby room and quickly begin to ruffle through my case, searching for a suitable top.
"No, no Ellie, don't touch that," I warn her as she walks towards the toilet. I pull out a white tank top and shrug a grey hoodie onto my shoulders. I hastily run my hairbrush through my hair, attempting to tame the wild waves. I comb Ellie's inherited auburn curls and twist them into little pigtails.
I was just pinning back my fly-aways from my face when my my phone began to ring.
"Clary where the hell are you?! The bus is here and we're trying to stall the driver. Can you please hurry the hell up?" Noah's frantic voice rang through the phone.
