Chapter 13: Small Fight

I was exploring around our new city and noticed how peaceful and lively it was. Everyone seemed to always be happy and it was always rare to get a monster attack. Garou had gone back to the monster association to train and continue their plan to take over. They had an open garden that had many areas where anyone could come and pick out any veggies or fruits that were growing. The flowers were beautiful and I started to pick some out for Garou. I thought he would want some red and white roses, so I placed them in my basket one by one. I continued on my little way to get Garou some more clothes since he usually always breaks them. He really needs more self-control to not ruin them all of the time. My eyes were wandering through store windows then I noticed a black chained necklace with a skull on it. I went inside the store and bought it for him, I thought that it'd look really good on him.

"Boo," someone says behind me. I turned around and saw that it was Garou hiding in his hoodie. I smacked his arm and continued walking. "Why were you in that store?"

"I was getting you a gift," I answered showing him the necklace. He takes it and observes the charm.

"I like it," he said trying to put it on. He was struggling with his big hands since the hook was so small. I smile and laughed dragging him to an alleyway. I made him bend down a bit to my height and put the necklace around him clipping it on. I grabbed the sides of his face and kissed him. He picks me up and starts running.

"Where are you taking me?" I questioned.

"Back to our apartment," he answered kissing my cheek. I held onto the basket so no roses would fall out. When we got back into our apartment, I put the roses into a nice vase while Garou took off his hoodie becoming shirtless. I went to the kitchen as Garou was staring at an egg.

"Is there something wrong with that egg?" I asked.

"I'll make us eggs," he demanded getting a pan and pouring some oil. I didn't fully trust him, so I stayed and watched. He tried to crack an egg open but just smashed it onto the counter. He looked at me embarrassed but determined. "I can do this alone!" He grabs another egg and smashes it again.

"Are you sure you don't need help?" I asked looking at him. I walk over to him and show him how to gently crack an egg into the pan. He grabs another egg and tries it successfully cracking it this time. I grabbed a rag and dampened it to clean up his mess of the two eggs. I looked back at him as he's cracked all of the eggs in the case. Oh boy, good thing he eats a lot. He added a bit of salt and started mixing it. I guess he's watched me cook from time to time whenever he was hungry. I opened the fridge to get a carton of orange juice then accidentally dropped it. I bent over to grab it as Garou smacked my ass. I quickly grabbed the carton then stood back up to see him grinning. I started smacking his arm.

"Garou!" I shouted pinching his skin.

"It's just a little tease!" he laughed going to grab a bowl to place the eggs in. I got two bowls of rice and set them on the table as Garou walked over with the big bowl of eggs. I sat down and poured the juice into our glasses starting to eat. Garou ate then stared at the roses.

"They're so beautiful," he said.

"They're from the open garden, we should go there together sometime," I replied. He was slowly chewing then put down his bowl and took out a monster cell. I watched it pumping and lost my appetite. I looked away.

"Put it away," I said.

"You sure you don't want to become a monster?" he questioned. I looked back at him then nod. "Chiaki, you'd be perfectly safe and strong!"

"I don't want to become one, Garou," I stated crossing my arms. "I want to stay human,"

"You still can!"

"I can only be in human form if I take that,"

"Chiaki, can't you see that you'll be with me longer with this?"

"That cell would only put me in bigger danger, and what if my body can't take the cell? What if I actually died from that?" I sighed and grabbed my bag leaving the apartment mad and a bit upset.
