Dilara and I were standing in the kitchen, making dinner. I'm so excited to talk to Lando face to face instead of just seeing him on screen or just hearing him. "Girl, stop fantasizing about the dude and help me cooking before you burn our food!" Dilara nudged me, breaking the train of thoughts. "Sorryyy, I'm just very excited." She smiled and nodded.
"I get that. I mean, you two talked a lot and now you're seeing him in real life out of the paddock's atmosphere. Even though a lot of people think they're similar, it's still very different." I nodded. "That's exactly what I'm thinking. Like, what if I'm so much different than he thinks that I am?" I said and stirred in the pan for a bit. "Don't worry, hun. You're really not any different on camera than in real life. You're still the caring, sassy, shy sweetheart." She said and hugged me. "You're the sweetest, Dil." I said as I wrapped my arms around her waist.
"It's just the truth and I guess you're just feeling a bit insecure because things are a bit complicated.." I nodded and laughed. "A bit is an understatement." I said and she smiled. "You'll find them, [Y/N]. And don't forget, you're like family to Max and me." We held onto each other for another few moments in silence, before turning back to the stove.
"Did you see Daniel's frown by the way, when Lando surprised us.." I asked as I started to cut an onion. "I did! I'm so curious about what was on his mind." I nodded in agreement. "Same! And I know we have a bit of a brother/sister bond, so maybe he's just cautious about Lando and me...." I said, not sounding sure of my case. "Could be." Dilara said before the boys walked in. "Ohh, it smells really good!" Max said and stood behind Dilara, stealing a kiss from her. "It's almost done! Could you set the table please? Then we can start in about a minute or five!" She asked and Max nodded, instantly starting to get the job done.
"Okay, it's ready!" Dil said as we walked into the dining area. Max and Lando were already sat at the table. Dilara sat down in the opposite chair to Max' so I sat down in the chair that was opposite from Lando. He smiled at me and I smiled back shyly. "It smells delicious!" He said as he put some on his plate. "We hope it tastes good as well!" He handed me the spoon and I blushed slightly. Both Max and Dilara noticed that we didn't really know what to say which caused Max to open his mouth. "What games have you been playing lately, Lando?"
"Iracing and Cod, still and recently I started Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild." He replied and I took this opportunity to hook onto the conversation. "Do you like it so far?" I asked and he nodded heavily.
"The storyline is so good! And the graphics are awesome as well!" I smiled brightly and sat up straighter in my chair, engaging more into the conversation. "How far are you?" I asked as I took another bite of the food. "I already got three memories and I just arrived in the Zora palace."
"Cool! Have you freed any of the Devine Beasts yet?" He shook his head in response, as he just had a mouthful of food. "Not yet, but I think they'll be quite difficult!" He said and I laughed. "Some really were, so if you need help, just give me a call." I said and when I looked at Max he mouthed 'smooth'. I blushed and then my phone started to ring. "Sorry I have to take this." I said after seeing that it was my doctor. I stood up and walked to the kitchen, pressing the green button.
"Hello, [Y/N] [L/N] speaking." I said as I sat down on the counter. "Hello, [Y/N]. It's dr. Wiscon. We just got the DNA-test back and we're sorry to inform you that it's not a match." Again? Is this for real? How hard is it to find your biological parents? "Oh, thanks for letting me know though."
"Don't give up the search [Y/N], I'm sure you're going to find your parents!" I sighed and leaned back. "I hope so.. I really want to know who they are and why they put me up for adoption..." I said, sounding a bit defeated. "You'll find them, [Y/N], I promise you." She said and I smiled sadly. She's always so optimistic, even though all the tests haven't been a match up until now. We said our goodbyes and hung up. Ugh, no way that I'm going to sit at the same table as Lando and try to be happy.. The hot tears I've been holding back during the phonecall now started streaming over my cheeks. Why can't there just be a match? Strong arms wrapped around me and Max' scent filled my nose. "Are you okay?" I shook my head and he wrapped his arms tighter around me. "Again a negative result from the DNA-test." Max let out a sigh. "I'm so sorry, bear." I cried into his shirt as he rubbed my back. "I just want to find them so badly.."
"I know. We'll do so eventually." He said and then we were silent for a bit. "I think I'm just going to take a shower and then lay in bed..." I said and Max nodded. "Just do what you need to do to calm yourself again." He said before pressing a kiss to the side of my head.
After taking a long, hot shower I laid myself down in the bed of the guest room. The shower already helped calming me down, but now I'm pretty tired because of all the different emotions I've felt in the past two hours. A soft knock came from the door and I slightly sat up in bed. "It's Lando, can I come in?" Lando's sweet voice came from the other side of the door, making me smile instantly. "Sure." I answered and the door opened. He walked in and closed the door behind him.
"How are you feeling?" He asked while pointing at the bed, non-verbally asking if he could sit on it. I nodded before answering. "Better than I did earlier."
"That's good to hear!" Lando said and I smiled at him. "Did Max tell you what happened?" I asked and he shook his head. "He just told me that you were sad and that you needed some time alone." I'm glad that Max didn't tell him right away what's wrong, but I think he's informing Dilara about it now. "You can know, though." I said and sat up straight in bed, now fully facing him.
"The people who I thought were my parents are my adoptive parents.. Ever since I found out, I've been searching for my biological parents. It was a closed adoption, so I don't have any information about them. I've been doing tests with people who are looking for their biological child, but no matches up until now." I said and Lando nodded, moving a little closer to me. "How did you find out that they're not your biological parents?" He asked, sounding genuinely interested.
"Well, when I told them that I wanted to do YouTube full-time, we got into a fight. We said some really ugly words and then my 'father' shouted that he didn't have to care anyway because I'm not his real child." Lando's jaw slightly dropped and he pulled me into a hug. "I'm sorry that you had to find out that way.." He's so sweet.. And his embrace is really nice. "How old were you when you found out?"
"17. I moved out the day after and stayed at Max' dad's for a while until I could afford to rent an apartment and then I saved a lot and I could buy the apartment that I currently live in. I haven't spoken to my adoptive parents since that day and I honestly don't regret that." I said and Lando just nodded. "Thank you for trusting me." He said while I wrapped my arms around him. "Thank you for listening."
