"Wait, what? Lando has a girlfriend?" Max said in shock and sat himself down on the floor. I nodded softly. "He didn't want to tell anyone because it has just been two months.." Max kept quiet, probably thinking. "Wait, so that means he kissed you, while he was in a relationship with someone else?" He asked and looked me directly in my eyes. "Yupp, he did exactly that.." I said and sighed. "I'm such a dummy. Why do I always fall for people who are unavailable?" Max smiled and got up from the floor, giving me a hug. "You'll find your person, bear. It may look like it's not worth it, but look at your parents! If you gave up on trying then you might not have known that they're your parents!" Max said and I nodded. "I know.. It just sucks that I like him so much and I think he's trying to seal away his feelings for me by being distant and all that." Max nodded and then looked at his watch. "Shall we walk to Daniel's hotel? We can talk on the way there.." I nodded and we made our way to the lobby of the building.
"But if he kissed you, then that means that he likes you, right?" Max asked and I nodded. "He told me he liked me, but that he didn't want to throw his girlfriend away like that." I said and grabbed Max' arm so I could lean against it while walking. Max then wrapped that arm around me, so that I would be leaning against his chest while walking. "This is more comfortable." He said with a smile. "Who would have thought.. Max Verstappen and [Y/N] [L/N] have trouble in paradise at the same time." I said with a sarcastic tone and Max laughed.
"You know, at first I really had trouble accepting that Dilara broke up with me. But now I'm slowly accepting it and being more comfortable with the idea." Max said and I nodded, encouraging him to continue. "I just didn't see it coming.. But maybe I'm just blind to that kind of stuff." He said and then stayed silent. "Or she could have communicated with you before the problem became to big and the two of you could find a solution. But she didn't and then there wasn't an other way to get the problem out of the way." I said and Max nodded. "That's true.. Maybe I should've talked about it with her more." Max said and looked at the path. Shortly, we reached our destination and walked inside the hotel. Daniel was waiting in the lobby and stood up when he saw us walk in.
"Hey guys!" He said, hugging me and then hugging Max. "Hey Dan!" He let his arm rest on my shoulder and guided us to the bar area. "Mom and dad are already there." Once we arrived I saw them sitting on a couch in the corner of the room. Grace smiled when she saw us and waved. I waved back and sat down on a chair once I got to the table. "Hello dear!" Grace said and reached over to hug me. I stood up from my chair again to hug her and then I hugged Joe. It still feels a bit weird to think that these people are my parents. Oh well, I will get used to it in no time, I guess.
"Hey!" Max said to Joe and Grace and sat down on the chair next to mine. Daniel didn't sit down but looked at me and Max. "Do you want to drink something? First round is on me!" He said and Grace laughed softly. "Some beer for me!" Max said and I nodded. "Beer for me as well!" I said and smiled at Daniel. Joe and Grace shook their heads and Daniel was on his way to the bar. "So, how long have you two known each other?" Joe asked, referring to Max and me.
"Wayyy too long!" I said with sarcasm and Max laughed while shaking his head. "I was about to say that!" I laughed and then turned back to Joe. "Basically our whole lives. His parents were friends with my adoptive ones and that's how we met." I said and felt a bit awkward mentioning my adoptive parents. Max noticed and grabbed my arm, rubbing his thumb over my wrist. He always did that to soothe me when I'm stressed and somehow it always works. Grace looked at the interaction and then looked at Joe.
"Do they know that you found us?" She asked and I shook my head. "I haven't been in touch with them for several years." I responded and at the same time Daniel came back with our drinks. "Thanks!" I said when he placed my beer on the table. "How come you haven't spoken to them for so long?" Joe asked and Max put some more pressure in the rubs. "If you don't want to talk about it then it's fine too.." Joe said while nodding to Max' hand on my arm. "Oh no, it's fine! But this does actually relieve some tension." I said and smiled to Max, who gave me a smile in return.
