Chapter 14

"Had a nice shower?" Daniel asked once I got back into my living room. "Yeahh!" I said and plopped myself down on the couch. Daniel was staying here in between two races, as I couldn't go to them because of a lot of events. "What are you watching?" I asked and tried to recognize the movie. It seems familiar, but I don't exactly remember. "Escape Room, it sounded pretty cool so." Ohh yeah, that was it! I liked this one! "Ahh yeah, I remember it! I watched it a while ago." Daniel nodded and continued to watch it. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and opened Instagram. Max had posted a picture of him and his mom. She was visiting him in Monaco right now for some mother-son time.

Max really needed that. The last few days have been pretty hard on him. The break-up with Dilara came crashing down after he didn't have racing to focus on. He tried to talk to Lando about it, but he's been getting more and more distant with us lately. The heated conversation back in Singapore actually set the mark. Lando has been acting differently since then and I don't know what it is. All I know that it's really hurting Max. He considered him one of his best friends and now Max gets dropped the moment he needs Lando. I've been trying to understand what made Lando act like this, watching his streams and all. But none of that helped with finding a reason.

"What's wrong?" Daniel's voice broke my train of thoughts. "Oh, nothing much." I said and tried to shrugg it off. "Then why have you been staring at the same picture for like..5 minutes?" He asked and I looked down at my phone, still displaying the picture of Max and Sophie. Daniel paused the movie and ran his hand through my hair. "Tell me, what's on your mind?" Daniel asked and I sighed.

"It's just.. Lando.." I said and pulled at my pyjama shorts. "He's been acting a bit off.. and that bothers me because I care about him." Daniel wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him. "What do you mean with 'acting off' exactly?" He asked and played with my hair a little. "He's been distant with both me and Max.. I can understand why he's been acting off with me.. Just can't figure out why he would abandon Max like that..." Daniel nodded and turned his head back to the television screen for a moment. "I don't know that as well.. I didn't even know he was acting that way towards you.." He sighed deeply and then looked at me again. "I'll keep an eye on him, to see if he's acting different around others too." I smiled and nodded. "Thanks, Dan. That means a lot." He smiled, kissed my temple and then turned his attention back on the television again. He pressed play and I leaned against his shoulder.

Daniel and I have been building up a good bond since our meet up in Singapore. We often visit each other and we call basically on a daily basis. The contact with Grace, Joe and Michelle have been okay but not as much as it has been with Daniel. My phone beeped and I checked the notification: Lando is streaming. I clicked on the notification and the app opened. I put my earphones in after plugging them into my phone and watched the stream.

Wait, that girl.. Is that his girlfriend? "Hey guys! Today will be a bit of a different stream than normal. I'll just be playing some games with my girlfriend, Jane." The girl waved at the camera. What happened to keeping their relationship secret? Dang, she's really pretty.. She doesn't really seem like the type that he would date.. But who am I to judge? They started playing a game and she constantly kept on touching him. Lando looked a bit uncomfortable but didn't stop her. His phone started to ring and he looked at it. "Who is it?" Jane asked with annoyance. "My mom." He answered and she rolled her eyes. "Call her back later, now it's us-time." She said and Lando let his phone ring. What the heck? What if it's something urgent? Why did she decide that he shouldn't pick up his phone?

My phone beeped and a notification from Max came in. You watching his stream? The text read and I opened the chat with Max.
