Starting from today, Oliver is now renamed as Cepos, an Egyptian name meaning 'pharaoh'. The reason why this is-is because, Cepos is supposed to be Egyptian, as Egypt was where the practice of breadmaking originated from.
My friend had told me it would be better to give a more appropriate name for Cepos, since he shared his own experiences on finding "diverse" characters having names that didn't at all match their culture. I've also run into this problem, especially with Asian characters being used in western media, having either stereotypical names or not having Asian last names. Obviously not everyone has a cultural "appropriate" last name or first name. But I wanted to change my character's name as well since I wasn't really set on the name, 'Oliver' for my character.
