At first, the car ride was an awkward silence. Then my dad finally said something.

"Hey, where was your brother? I wanted to see him."

"First of all, if you wanted to see him you would've let him live with us. Second of all, I don't know where he was, probably out with some friends" I said looking out the window.

"It's just cause he's always causing trouble. Anyways meet your stepmom, Lisa"

She turned around and smiled at me. She was pretty. She had red wavy hair and green eyes. She kinda looked like an older version of Cherry Valence.

"I'm Lisa" She said. I could tell she was real nice. Wonder what she's doing dating my dad

"I'm Kimberly, but you can call me Kim" I said and flashed a quick smile.

We pulled up to the house. It was way bigger than any house I've lived in. It didn't have a "home" vibe but it was cute. I looked around and realized all the houses around me were big too.

"I'll show you to your room, give me your bag" Lisa said and held her arm out. I got out of the car and gave her my bag. We walked inside, it was decorated nicely, there was even a statue in the house. We went up the stairs and walked into a room. It was pretty big and only had a few things in it. There was a big window that faced the street and the walls were a peach colour.

"I hope you like it here. I know its different then what you're used to" She said and then put my bag down.

"I'd rather be on the other side of town." I paused "What a lovely house though. I said and looked around

"Well, I'm gonna go help your dad unpack. We can go shopping later in the week for some new furniture for your room" She said and left. I jumped onto my bed and laid there, staring at my smooth ceiling. I'm usually used to staring at a popcorn ceiling. Eventually, I got up and set my room up a little bit. My closet was huge. I didn't even have a closet in my old place. I guess I was tired because I ended up falling asleep.

I woke up at around 9 am. I am NOT used to waking up this early. I took a shower and got changed. I threw my hair into a ponytail and then walked downstairs to grab something to eat. Lisa was downstairs listening to the radio as she was cooking.

"Hey Kimberly, Do you want any breakfast? I'm making eggs and bacon" She said with a smile on her face.

"I'm not that hungry, do we have any apples or something?" I asked and then she grabbed one and handed it to me.

"Tell me about yourself. I don't want to be living with a stranger" She said and then turned the radio down a little.

"Uhhh. Well, I have an older crazy brother, My mom is dead, my dad left and then came back only because of you and because he legally had to." I said and bit into my apple

"No Kim, tell me about you, Do you have a boyfriend, what's your biggest fear, do you have any hobbies?" 

"I wish I had a boyfriend but nope, I'm single." I took another bite "And I fear nothing(lies). I guess a hobby of mine is that I write songs and I sometimes sing."

"That boy with the flannel you were talking to yesterday looked like your boyfriend" She said 

"Noo. I mean we were but we broke up. We didn't even say 'I'm breaking up with you' We just got in a fight and it ended like that" I said as I looked around the house, jeez this place is nice

"Awh that's too bad. You guys look like your in love" She said and then finished breakfast. She started to eat

I thought about the word 'love'. Are Soda and I in love? No, no way. We cant be. Im over him, he's my best friend. "Speaking of love, are you in love with my dad?" I asked
