A warm smile.
A lighthearted laugh.
A pair of green emeralds.
Katsuki sat next to Izuku on a bench, the blonde's arm around him in a protective mannor. Their bodies were almost touching, Katsuki's heart was racing at the proximity.
He turned his head slightly to look down at the shorter boy sitting next to him. Katsuki leaned his head closer to Izuku's, their lips so close they barely touched. A well known blush crept onto Izuku's face, as the blonde closed the gap between them.
A feeling none of them had felt before, it was something that resembled home. Their minds at peace as they stayed there for what felt like an eternity. It was only them in the messed up world and everything seemed to crash around them.
Once they broke the kiss, Izuku opened his eyes. Katsuki stared into them and found something he wasn't expecting.
His eyes screamed death.
~~~
"D-Deku?"
Katsuki quickly opened his eyes and sat up in bed, his heart feeling like it was beating out of his chest. He brought a hand up to his face, he was horrified in more ways than one.
What was that?
He slowly brought his feet over his bed so they were touching the ground. He steadied his breath as he held his hands out in front of him to look at. Moving his fingers one by one to know this was no longer a dream. He stayed like that for a while until he seemed to almost go back to normal. He then picked up his phone, seeing the time. It read 3:23 am.
He thought he should go back to bed, but he had this feeling. Something was telling him to check on the nerd that filled Katsiki's latest dream.
He went scrolling through his contacts until he found one labeled Deku. He contemplated if he should call him or not. After about a minute, he clicked it.
It rang twice before it picked up to Katsuki's surprise.
"K-Kacchan? What are you doing up?"
Katsuki's breath hitched when he heard him, he almost hesitated.
"I should ask you the same thing"
"I... stay up late sometimes"
"oh"
.
.
.
"Any reason you called? Are you alright?"
Katsuki took a deep breath, just glad to know it wasn't the same Deku from his dreams. Though with his voice, something seemed off. Did he always sound like this?
"Uh... yeah I'm fine. How are you?" Katsuki stated, his voice sounding uneven with his heart beat racing from the anticipation of an answer.
Those eyes.
He couldn't stop seeing them.
Hesitation.
"I-I'm good, Kacchan, don't worry about me."
You could hear the fake smile from the other end of the phone. And Katsuki was more than aware of it.
He wasn't one to pry about things, he felt if someone said things were one way, then they probably were that way. Yet with Deku, lying wasn't his strongpoint. And not to mention this feeling wretched Katsuki's mind to no end. He couldn't shake it, with all that he had learned about Izuku, he didn't believed the words that he uttered.
"Are you sure? You did have a panic attack not too long ago"
A sigh was heard from Izuku's side along with a deep breath. It's as if he was trying to hide something in his voice.
"Yes, I'm sure"
"Deku?"
"Hm"
"What happened to you?"
The constant loud breathing that came from Izuku, suddenly stopped as it was caught in his throat. He hadn't been expecting that question.
Katsuki noted the way Izuku acted but didn't say anything as he waited for a response.
Izuku's month opened many times, with no words making their way to the surface. He didn't know what to say. He seemed speechless.
"I-I... don't know what you're.. talking about"
Katsuki let out an annoyed sigh, knowing that would be the answer. He wanted to make it known that this wasn't what he wanted to hear.
"what else would I be talking about?"
.
.
.
"I don't know, Kacchan"
Katsuki's patience was starting to boil over, rage was accumulating within him.
"Fine"
And with that, he hung up the phone.
Katsuki at the moment didn't care the same way he did before. The feeling had left his chest and his mind went back to wanting sleep.
He couldn't describe the way he felt right now. The words that Deku had said were repeating themselves in his head. He didn't know what to think of them. Though only one question lingered in his mind.
Is he really okay?
That was an answer Katsuki didn't know.
He let out a frustrated sigh while laid back down. He turned off his phone and pulling the covers back over him. He instantly felt the warmth of them and felt the slightest bit of comfort from the motions that occurred minutes before.
"Damn nerd"
His eyes then closed and he drifted back to sleep with his last thought being of none other than Izuku.
