The duo sat on top of a building in their hero costumes. The wind brushed past them as the night sky shone the darkness upon them. They sat in silence, watching and listening closely, waiting for anything to come their way.
The series of mysterious missing people would come to an end if things went right. They had predicted the place and a suspect for who would be taken next. Now all they had to do was stand by as the villain crawls into their trap.
Izuku takes a deep breath, closing his eyes lightly as his sight trails to the dark. The vast, open wave of night circling through. His mind tired and restless, wanting nothing more for this villain to be caught.
Katsuki's eyes were trained on the street, watching closely. They patiently were sitting outside a woman's apartment building, looking for any suspicious activity. They had an alarm and camera set up at the lobby, as they do surveillance on the outside. There was a laptop which showed the camera feed that sat on top of Izuku's lap and a watch worn on his wrist showing quirk activity. Now they just rest until they see something.
Katsuki, feeling slightly bored, looked over to Izuku who sighed. The blonde wondered what was going on inside that swirled mind of his. What could he be thinking about, were memories filtering out currently? He didn't know, he could only watch Izuku's expression turn solemn.
"Deku"
Izuku turned his attention to the new voice, puzzled but attentive. Katsuki stared at first, not knowing particularly what he wanted to say. How could they have a normal conversation after the new information he learned about Izuku? This wouldn't be just a simple task, he felt as if he had to walk on eggshells around him.
And now that was saying something for Bakugo Katsuki, the person known for impulsively saying whatever came to mind.
His mouth fell silent, slowly closing shut. Izuku looked away from the blonde and focused on the screen in front of him. The lobby was empty, as it had been for the past hour and no new audio cues were picked up around the building. He sighed in relief as he looked out onto the road. Not many were walking by other than a couple, walking hand in hand, looking at each other every few seconds. They seemed to be in their honey moon phase, smiles were placed on their faces, distant laughs were played through, and their eyes shined with adoration.
Izuku couldn't help but feel a slight bit of envy, he, of course was happy that they could find each other. Yet some part of him, wished he could have that.
Someone to hold.
Izuku's head leaned against his palms while he watched the couple. Could he ever look at someone like that?
Izuku's head turned towards Katsuki, staring for only a moment, he admired the way his expression softened in the moonlight. His eyebrows were calm, his jaw relaxed, his expression light and gentle. His head was turned up as his eyes drifted into the night sky. He was stunning in Izuku's mind. This was the side he was longing to se-
"What you staring at?" The blonde inquired as he made eye contact with the person sitting next to him. Izuku's face turned pink, diverting his sight away.
"N-Nothing" he replied, going to look back at the camera footage. Though, he couldn't help but wonder why he was so fascinated by Katsuki. The blonde at times was a complete mystery to him, even after growing up with him, he still found himself wanting to learn more about him.
