Chapter 15: Fatality

Day 5 of Internship:

Haah! Hargh! Ah... Ouch! For the last two days, Mina had been running me through the ringer as she tried teaching me self-defense techniques under Espada's request. As you probably guessed it, she's been very painfully beating me down every time we go about sparring. She's so small yet her fists are like a steel bar. Meanwhile, Espada had told us that she was going to be looking into something at the moment and she'd get back to us when she had time again. That was two days ago now. After that we developed a sort of routine during our stay. We'd spend time with Rin and her little brats(Ah man, Espada really has started affecting me hasn't she?) we'd help with cooking, cleaning and doing the laundry before starting my training. Though after the first time going against Mina, it felt like she broke my butt.

Mina: "Alright Lexi, you can take a break now."

Lexi: "I think I have more than one on my body."

Diane: "Seems like Mina can't hold back due to her quirk always acting on it's own."

We were in our room, as that was the only place with enough space for us to do this kind of training in. Seeing as I was now planted on the ground with no hope of getting back up, Mina stepped back, completely unscathed as it was impossible to get a hit on that girl. However, Diane had stepped up, her body in a fighting stance and her appearance growing feral.

Diane: "How about a sparring match with me Mina?"

Mina: "... Sure why not?"

The two stood in front of one another, each searching the other for openings. Diane looked completely focused as she sniffed the air around Mina and finally leaned forward on all fours. Mina was a skilled fighter, though I doubt she ever faced someone who actually fought like an animal before. Even so, she didn't seem the least bit bothered by her fighting style and stood her ground. All at once, Diane snarled like a rapid wolf and leaped at Mina with lighting speed.

Diane: "Ragh-! Oah-!"

Mina swiftly dodged at the exact moment Diane leaped, lowering her body and her arm reached around her body and grabbed her long fluffy tail and yanked hard. With a very painful yelp, Diane was dropped to the ground where Mina finished her off by digging her bare foot into her back while gripping both her long hair and tail up. Needless to say, Diane had completely surrendered.

Diane: "Ow! Stop! I give up, I give up!"

Mina: "Oh my god! I'm so sorry Diane, my body just reacts on it's own, I can't really make it do what I want most of the time!"

Lexi: "Hurts doesn't it?"

I muttered under my breath as that was pretty much how it had been going for me as well. We took a break after that as we were starting to get hungry. Looking out the window, I found that the sun had already gone down, meaning we'll be heading off to sleep soon. Nursing my hurt bottom, we entered the kitchen where Rin was motherly cooking dinner while her sons were in the living room with Erven. Looks like he came back early today. Erven was an office worker, though from the looks of it, his hours were absolutely insane. Leaving in the morning and coming back late at night. Entering, he waved at us with an exhausted look on his face as he held the little kids on his lap and messing with them.

Mina: "Rin, is dinner almost ready?"

Rin: "Almost."

She spoke with a sullen voice. I noticed this since we got here but Rin always acted a bit differently whenever Erven was around. She'd clam up and whenever he spoke to her, she'd snap at him. As much as I wanted to know what was going on, I couldn't help but try to stay out of it.
