"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)

"I still can't believe you set my house on fire yesterday," Ashim said, closing his locker door.

"Yeah, whoever invented sprinklers was a genius," Xale replied.

"Except for the water part."

"Yeah, all my ninja weapons got wet."

"Including the lava gauntlets?"

"Oh, don't worry, I locked them in my closet," Xale joked, bumping into Kayta.

"What did you lock in the closet?" she asked, joining them as they walked to their first class of the day.

"These lava gauntlets I made.  It was supposed to be a fun pretend weapon thing, but then it set Ashim's curtains on fire."

"We woke up earlier than usual because the sun came up and I had no curtains to defend us," Ashim laughed.

"Whoa, did you have real fire in there or something?" Kayta's eyes widened.

"No, just water that was coloured to look like lava," Xale answered.

"So how did you set the curtains on fire... with water?" Kayta furrowed her brow at Xale, not understanding what had happened.

"I'm not sure, it kind of..."

"It happened... somehow," Ashim finished.  "And then the sprinklers turned on, so now all our stuff is wet."

"Yeah, and this creepy black shado-" Xale started, but Ashim elbowed him in the side.  Luckily, Kayta was too caught up in her thoughts to notice.

"Strange," Kayta said.  "First, my telekinesis.  Second, Ashim's invisibility.  Third, Xale's fire... water.  Coincidence?"

"I don't think so."  Ashim shook his head, as the three friends turned and walked into their classroom.

"Okay everyone!  Settle down!"

Ley slipped into class.  He was late because he had forgotten his locker combination again and had to get it fixed.

"Mr. Martin!" the teacher called.  "You're late!"

"Sorry Mr. O," Ley scrambled into his seat.  "I forgot my locker combination again."

Mr. O's real name was Mr. O' Sullivan, but only the school staff called him that.

"Today we will be starting our midterm social studies project.  You will be in groups of 5 and I have already assigned the groups."

Mr. O explained what the project was about and handed out instruction sheets.

"Now for the groups..." Mr O called out several names.

"Kayta, Ashim, Star, Ley, and Xale- you will be a group."

The kids gathered together at a table.

Kayta broke the silence. "So... what should we do for our project?  Any ideas?"

"I don't know.  What are we supposed to make again?" Xale mumbled.

"Were you even listening?  We're supposed to make a presentation on impossibilities, and what makes them impossible," Ashim told his friend.

"Strange project," Ley commented.

"Yeah," Star agreed.

"So... what types of impossibilities are there?" he asked.

"Like... powers?" Kayta suggested.

"Oh, that's easy.  There's telekinesis, invisibility, fire-" Xale started, but Ashim nudged him and he stopped.

"And there's flight, and marksmanship-" Star chimed in, only to be silenced by glare from Ley.

"Wait... did you guys..."  Kayta's bright green eyes went big.

"Get powers?  Thanks Star," Ley rolled his eyes at his friend.

"I didn't know we were keeping them secret!" Star exclaimed.

"It's okay," Kayta reassured her.  "We got them too."

"Really?  No way," Ley gaped.

"Wait, what's happening?" Xale had zoned out on the conversation.  Kayta rolled her eyes.

"They got powers too," Ashim told his clueless friend.

"Really?  Which ones?"

"I got flight!" Star exclaimed, a little bit too loud.  Ley shushed her.

"I have invisibility," Ashim said.

"I have fire... water," Xale mumbled.  Star raised an eyebrow, a little confused.

"I have marksmanship, I guess," Ley looked at Kayta.

"I have... telekinesis.  But no one's seen it yet," Kayta confessed.

"Why don't we come over and you can show us?" Ashim suggested.

"I don't know, am I allowed?"

"We can work on schoolwork at your house.  After all, we do need to work on our school project." Star intervened.

"We can do our project on powers!  What do you think, Kayta?" Ley grinned, excited to see everyone's powers.

"Sure," she smiled.  "See you guys tonight."
