"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

Ashim waited in his position for something to happen.  Anything to happen.  Ley had gone off somewhere, he had no idea where Jem and Star went, and he really didn't know where Eloise was.

He saw Kayta walk back to the entrance of the church, noticing that her eyes weren't the bright green they usually were, they were very dark, and that gave her a less friendly look.

Kayta turned, facing his direction, and Ashim gasped unintentionally.  Kayta heard the noise and started walking towards him, finally spotting him.  Ashim turned invisible and backed away, but she heard his footsteps.

"Whoa, whoa, Kayta, calm down, it's just me," Ashim rambled, although he knew it wouldn't do anything, Kayta wasn't herself.  She continued to follow him as he scrambled around the church, invisible.

Ashim drew his sword to try and defend himself but Kayta knocked it out of his hands with ease.  Now he was unarmed.  He ran faster.

Ashim ran into a dead end.

"Uh oh," he thought.  He turned around.  "Uh, hi Kayta, uh, please don't hurt me," he laughed nervously.

Kayta didn't listen, she kept walking, edging closer, and closer towards him.

Ashim was now backed up against a wall.  He groped around for anything that might help him. He felt something flat and hard on the table next to him.  It was a bible.

"Here, you want this?" Ashim swung the bible out in front of him.  "It's a bible," he singsonged, as if Kayta was a toddler.  There was no effect.

Ashim flipped the bible open to a random verse.  "Here, Romans 12:21," he read, nervously.  "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

Kayta momentarily stopped and clutched her wrist as if it hurt badly.  Ashim noticed this and flipped to another random chapter.

"Proverbs 3:7," he read, standing up more confidently now.  "Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil."

Kayta closed her eyes, wincing.  The bible clearly had an effect on her.  Ashim flipped the pages quickly.

"Matthew 6:13," Ashim's voice rang out loud and clear.  "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

He looked up to see that Kayta had slumped onto the floor.  Ashim rushed over to make sure she was okay.

"Kayta?"  He shook her.  "Kayta?"

Kayta opened her eyes, and Ashim could see the bright green colour flooding back into them.

"Ashim?"

"Whoa, I did it!" Ashim jumped up with joy.  "I saved you!  I saved you!"

"What happened?" she asked.

"I'll explain later," Ashim replied, tucking the bible under his arm.  "But for now, I have a plan to defeat the demon master."  He held out his hand to help Kayta to her feet.

"We're gonna need more bibles."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The group stood on the roof of the church, looking at the demon master and his army.  They were small in size compared to the demons, but their courage was much bigger.

"Whhat do youu havvee forr me toddayy?" the demon hissed.

The kids opened up their bibles and began to read.

"The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning," Milly read.  The demon master frowned in surprise.

"For the Lord will carry out his sentence on earth with speed and finality," Jem continued.  The demon master clenched his fists.  Everyone could see the demons behind him shrinking back, as if they were in pain.

"You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes," Star declared.  The demons were now covering their ears, and a few were moaning.

"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever," Ashim stated.  The demon master rose to his full height, but the kids could see that his power was waning.

"But Jesus immediately said to them; 'Take courage!  It is I.  Don't be afraid'," Eloise grinned, standing strong.  The demon master backed away, it was now shrieking.

"For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God," Xale smiled as the demon master struggled to stand.  The other demons were now crying out, and many of them had fled in terror.

"The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength," Ley looked towards Kayta, giving her nod to let her finish them off.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand," Kayta delivered the final blow, extending her right hand towards the demon, who finally collapsed.  A bright flash of light suddenly appeared.

"Anngelllssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!" a demon hissed in fear.

Chaos broke out amongst the army.  The demons were scrambling everywhere, screaming and panicking.  They carried off their master, flying far, far away from the church, their painful shrieks fading away in the distance.  The rain slowly subsided and the thunder stopped, the clouds cleared and the sun peered down on the kids, who were now jumping up and down and celebrating.

"We did it!  We did it!  We did it!" Star chanted.

Ashim high-fived Jem.

"We did it!  We actually did it!" Jem exclaimed.

"We actually did!" Ashim exclaimed.

Kayta laid down, exhausted.  Eloise sat down next to her.

"You okay, Kayta?" Eloise asked her, as the two of them looked up into the sky.  "Yeah, I'm just really tired," Kayta explained.

"Me too," Eloise agreed.

"At least the demons are gone now," Xale said, sitting down with them.

"The adventure is coming to an end," Ley added.

The group of eight all sprawled out on the roof, staring up at the bright blue sky, finally able to relax in peace.
