Also I am an idiot and I didn't know that the spring high miyagi rep playoffs were October,,, I thought for sure they were November (were currently mid November ish in this story LOL) so uhhh, let's pretend they're held in November like Tokyo's LOL

You almost thought you were dreaming. Surely, to hear such words, you must be dreaming. Right?

Your heart felt heavy in your chest and your stomach began to churn. "W-what?" you whispered, feeling yourself go red.

Tsukishima soon followed, his face a complementary shade as he stared at you like a fish out of water, mouth gaping as he tried to cling to words that escaped him. "I..." was all he managed to spit out.

Daichi, along with most of the other members had caught wind of what Tsukishima had said and were about to celebrate such a confession, was now starstruck at what was transpiring. Quickly, he shook off his shock and decided to herd the group away, telling them this wasn't something they needed to be privy to. 

After what felt like hours which in reality was only a few minutes, Tsukishima stepped forward and took your hands in his, brushing his thumb over your knuckles. "You heard me." his voice was soft and hesitant and you were sure you were close to tears.

Nodding, you stared at your conjoined hands and let out a shaky breath. "Did you mean it?" you mumbled.

Without wasting a breath, he replied. "Yes."

You looked up at him and noticed how nervous he looked. You couldn't blame him, he had just professed his love for you. "You love me?" you tightened your grip on his hands.

Swallowing, he nodded. "I love you."

At hearing the words again you felt yourself blush even more and your heart speed up. Tsukishima's eyes searched yours, desperate for some kind of response. It's not like you didn't want to say anything back but you were too shocked to even begin to construe a coherent sentence. 

After a minute or so, Tsukishima dropped your hands and a frown took over his face. The loss of contact shook you out of your trance and you went to make a grab for his hands but he took a step back before you could.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for springing that upon you. You don't have to say it back I...I don't want to force you to or make you uncomfortable." he mumbled and you could have cried at how broken he sounded.

"Kei," you began, taking a step towards him. His hands that were wrapped around the handle of his bag you unfurled, and brought them up to your lips, kissing them both softly. "Don't say that."

He scowled at you, your cryptic words irritating him now. "Can we just go." he sounded defeated now and your heart almost burst. 

"I love you too!" your words came out fast and your face, for the millionth time, flushed red. "If you'd let me get a friggin word in you'd know how much I love you! So so much, Kei, so much it hurts. I mean, can you blame me for taking a while to respond? Like jeez, the guy I'm enamoured with just told me he loves me and...well its you! Mister grumble and sarcasm so-so...I just needed to get my bearings I-I guess but I love you so much." the words tumbled out of you quicker than you could think them up, a testament to how utterly true and raw they were.
