"So you two basically eloped because he couldn't wait much longer to marry you?" Artemis questioned after both Azar and Bucky gave her and Steve a brief rundown of their marriage.
"Pretty much." Azar replied, watching her sister with amusement.
"Well, I'm not surprised." Steve said with a chuckle. "Bucky has always been a little impatient." He threw a grin over to his best friend, who rolled his eyes with a smile.
"Oh, I know." The younger brunette giggled.
"You're supposed to be on my side, doll." Bucky glared at her playfully.
"Okay, when this is all over, you are telling me everything." The eldest twin pointed at her sister, earning herself a smile and a roll of the eyes.
"You know I will." Azar responded.
Smiling with a shake of her head, Artemis entered the Palace with Steve to meet with Shuri. Watching them, Azar felt Bucky wrap his arm around her waist.
"That went well." He said, causing her to giggle softly.
Up in Shuri's lab, the Princess scanned Vision's stone with her Kimoyo beads as he lied on the examination table. She studied the hologram intently as it projected over the palm of her hand. "The structure is polymorphic." She noted.
"Right." Bruce agreed. "We had to attach each neuron non-sequentially." He explained which caused Shuri to look at him, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth in amusement.
"Why didn't you just reprogram the synapses to work collectively?" She asked.
Vision turned to the scientist expectantly as if he was asking the same question.
"Because," Bruce drew out with uncertainty. "We didn't think of it?"
"I'm sure you did your best." The princess smiled at him reassuringly.
"Can you do it?" Wanda asked, worry evidently laced in her tone.
"Yes," Shuri nodded. "But there are more than two trillion neurons here. One misalignment could cause a cascade of circuit failures." She explained to the red head before turning to her brother, who silently observed. "It will take time, brother."
"How long?" Steve asked.
"As long as you can give me." Shuri replied.
A chime echoed throughout the room causing the heroes to turn their attention to Okoye as she flicked one of her Kimoyo beads into her palm.
The bead projected a hologram of the globe with a pulsing location marker. "Something's entered the atmosphere. She announced.
Azar leaned against the wall as she was hit with a wave of nausea and dizziness. She took in a couple of deep breaths as Bucky walked over to her worriedly.
"Are you okay?" He asked, concern written all over his face.
"Just dizzy, a little bit of nausea." The brunette replied with a soft groan as another wave of nausea overcame her.
"I think you should sit this out." Bucky said.
"No." Azar protested. "I'll be fine. It will pass and I will be okay enough to fight."
"Honey, I--" She cut him off.
"If you think I'm going to sit here while you're out there fighting, think again. It's you and I until the end, remember?"
Bucky looked at her skeptically, his baby blues filled with worry. With a soft sigh, he nodded.
"Fine but the minute I see something wrong, you're out of there." He said sternly.
"You got it." The brunette replied, pecking his lips softly.
"Hey, Cap," The voice of Sam caught the couple's attention, seeing him stare up at the sky. "We got a situation here." He spoke to Steve over comms.
Both Azar and Bucky walked over to the para-rescue, turning their gazes to the sky where they saw incoming alien vessels.
The vessel slammed into the defense shield that protected the Golden City, instantly destroying it on impact.
"God, I love this place." Bucky said as he stared at the sky.
"Don't start celebrating yet, guys." Rhodey, now in his War Machine armour, said as he spotted another three oncoming ships. "We got more incoming outside the dome."
From their view up in the lab, the heroes watched as the shock waves and debris from the ships' landing destroyed the forest area.
Steve and T'Challa looked at each other with concern at the brief scope of their impending war.
"It's too late." Vision said as he struggled to sit up and slide off the exam table. "We need to destroy the stone now."
Artemis swung herself around and moved towards Vision with Natasha in tow. "Vision, get your ass back on that table." She ordered as they gently kept him in place.
"We will hold them off." T'Challa announced as he, Okoye and the guards headed towards the door.
Steve turned to the young witch beside him. "Wanda, as soon as the stone's out of his head.. You blow it to hell." He ordered.
"I will." Wanda replied with a firm nod of her head.
"Evacuate the city. Engage all defense procedures." The King ordered before he paused in step and turned, pointing towards Steve. "And get this man a shield."
