"Are you insane?!" I shout, not caring if anyone heard. "No one would ever believe such a thing and even if they do, it has to work on both of them."
"That's the thing," he says, glancing back over to me with the same sly smirk as before. "When one is convinced, we just break it off and say we lost interest and now like the other person. I mean, come on," he pauses, eyeing my uncomfortable self making nervous gestures, "he clearly likes you...a lot, and Jennie already likes me, I just gotta get her back is all."
I don't say anything. The idea struck me as stupid and childish. I felt like I was in a teen movie and I did not want to be in one with Min Yoongi as my main character.
"Do you like Tae?" He sighs, his gaze gentle and yet so annoying at the same time.
"Y..I guess..." I reply, not wanting to completely admit it even though I basically already did a few minutes ago.
"Then it's settled: from now on, we are dating. Oh, and," he suddenly remembers, reaching in his pocket and pulling out a lavender phone. "You have to take this. Your line is now with mine so you don't have to pay a thing," he explains, holding the phone out for me to take.
Hesitating are first, I slowly edge forward until the smooth glass was in my hand. He even noticed my purple case and picked out a purple phone to replace it. "I already set it up for you. Try not to run into people again."
"I didn't..." I was beginning to say when he cuts me off with an, "I'm just kidding." "So what d'you want me to do..." I ask, placing the phone in the pocket of my jeans, "hold your hand or something?"
His eyebrows raise before erupting with laughter. That was probably the first one I had ever seen him laugh, let alone truly smile. "Stupid girl, you've never dated, that's right," he chuckles, pressing his lips together to try and hide his laughter built up inside. "Let alone date a senior like us, hm?"
I didn't know what to say to that. Sure, I've never dated before and he was right about not dating a senior either. He was probably thinking of more legit things besides holding hands. 'Why am I so childish?'
"I'm not sleeping with you," I say, his eyes widening before his nose scrunches in almost disgust.
"Since when is sex such a public thing? Of course I'm not sleeping with you! I'd never sleep with you," he declares, my heart almost cracking at that small notion. 'If a playboy like himself wouldn't sleep with me, then would anyone?'
"Right...I don't wanna kiss you either..." I add, his shoulders shrugging in return. "What? No! I refuse!"
"Look, sweetheart, a first kiss isn't something to get excited over," he starts, the fact that he knew I had never been kissed making my blood boil, "I may be taking away your chance for a first boyfriend and kiss but I won't take away your virginity. See, if Jungkook was in this position, he'd do it in a heartbeat."
"Noted, thanks," I reply in a sarcastic voice. 'If only he knew that I also liked Jungkook...' "So...just kiss in public, hold hands, and like go on dates?" I ask, my voice shaky along with the rest of my body.
"If you want it to work," he pauses, leaning back again while tying his arms in a knot across his chest, "you gotta try to show some affection, even though I know you hate me."
"I don't hate you," I protest. "It's just gonna be so awkward since we both DISLIKE each other," I correct, crossing my arms as well.
He shrugs, not wanting to go on on the subject anymore. "Oh, and social media is gonna be completely run by our relationship. Meaning, change my name to something cute or whatever, I'll do the same, and make Instagram the hotspot for attention. I will walk you to lunch everyday and hold your hands in the hall," he explains, my heart hammering at the details. "If all goes well, we'll last at most a week before they both give in, well, at least Jennie. Tae will have to take some persuasion."
"A week..." I repeat, the next 7 days surely haunting me when all is said and done. "You sure it'll work?" I ask, only for him to shrug once more in return.
"Quit thinking too much. I'm mostly doing this for my sake but if it works out for you, then whatever," he says in a low tone.
'Right, he doesn't care and neither do I. It's not real...just an act of fake love.'
"Fine...how do we get the word out?" I ask, one corner of his mouth lifting slightly to a smirk.
"Let's start with this," he says, taking out his phone and tapping on the camera icon. He stands up from his side of the bench and maneuvers over to me before sitting down. He wraps his arm around me, my whole body jolting at his suddenly movements. "Smile," he whispers, turning his phone sideways and holding it up so the we were both in frame with the concert going on in the background.
Taking a deep breath, I lean into the picture and smile, showing my teeth while Yoongi kept his sweet and simple. Once that was done, he uploaded it to his Instagram with the caption, "Concerts are fun, but they're even more fun with this cutie." My stomach did a flip at his finger pressing the share button.
"Change your bio to today's date and a heart," he instructs while doing the same to his. I noticed all my apps and pictures still on the new phone. 'He must've done a transfer. Those take forever...I wonder why he did that.'
I added the date to my bio and even made sure it was closer to the top so people could see it. He gave me the usernames to a lot of people to add and even changed his profile to the picture we just took. I, however, kept the picture of me smiling brightly into the camera last summer on the beach as my profile.
'This is so serious...are we really doing this?'
