"A...caterpillar?" I ask, turning my head at the weird picture he drew with his eyes closed. We had decided on playing it a harder way.
"Oh my god, you are so bad at this," he laughs, holding his hand to his mouth as I snatch the phone and take a closer look.
"It's not my fault you draw like a two year old," I reply, turning it a full 360 degrees but still finding no reasonable answer.
"She's right, that's god awful," Jin chuckles from behind me, his head resting on the top of our seat to peer over my shoulder. "Were you having a seizure while drawing that?"
"Oh, stop it," Jungkook snaps, taking his phone back in fake annoyance. "I thought it was a great drawing of Jin himself," he says in a dramatic tone while holding it up to his face. Jin just hits him on the head, resulting in us erupting in laughter.
"That is not funny!" Jin says, only making me laugh harder.
"Okay okay, it was a salamander. Your turn, Dea," he passes the phone to me but I decline at the sight of our destination. "Well, look at that, Jin. Our last bonfire."
"Don't say it like that. You'll make Namjoon cry," he teases the blonde who just playfully wacks him in the back of the head in return. "Hey, why'd you hit me?!" He snaps, the rest of us hiding our laughter as we take roll call.
Afterwards, we all hurry out of the bus and find ourselves on a sandy lake with a forest area that was off limits to us. Of course, the seniors invited Jiwoo and I to go drink with them somewhere around the edge of the forest where the chaperones didn't look. We were told that some of us would have to file in and out to make it not look suspicious.
"When do you want me?" Jiwoo murmurs to me as we and some of the other classmates sit around the fire to keep the bugs away.
I spot Tae and Jisoo near a giant rock talking with Jimin, Jin, and Rose. Jisoo suddenly walks away though, gesturing to her cup that looked like the cup the teachers were offering for juices when hers was actually for alcohol.
I rise from my log and hurry over to them before she returned, leaving Jiwoo clueless beside Hoseok. Tae leans against the rock, a little away from the group with his own drink in his hand.
Approaching him, he looks up to meet my eyes. His cheeks immediately grew red and the first thing he did was turn his head towards the direction that Jisoo went. It was clear he did not want to be caught with me.
"Can you do something?" I ask, his eyebrows raised and his eyes widened at my random question. Glancing back to Jisoo's direction, he goes back to me, his mouth slightly ajar as if he was to reply but didn't have a voice. "It'll be just a few minutes," I urge on, his lips pressing together nervously before nodding his head. I smile brightly at his response. "Alright, in 5 minutes, meet me by that meadow over there," I point to the spot sorta near our minibar.
I walk away before he could say anything, not that he was probably going to anyways. I grab Jiwoo and drag her over to the meadow, placing her in the spot where I wanted her.
5 minutes passed by so slowly beside a large tree that hid me from the entrance of the meadow. Just when a few seconds were left on the timer, I heard footsteps approaching from the beach onto crunchy, forest ground.
I was about to appear from behind the tree when I hear another set of footsteps.
"Hey, where're you going, babe?" A voice calls out before joining the other footstep's side. My heart beat increased even more, and not from excitement.
"Just...just a walk," Tae replies.
And as if things couldn't get any worse, Jiwoo saw the two and mistook them, for a rustling in the bushes startled Jisoo and awoke the fireflies. The small bugs sparkled all throughout the grass until they fly up and covered the surrounding area.
I slowly backed away from the tree as I watch the two's eyes light up at the sight of the hundreds of bugs glowing through the air. "Oh my gosh. Did you purposely lead me here to see this, Tae?" She gasps, cupping her mouth as Tae glances around for any sign of me.
My backing away comes to a halt as I run into someone who places a hand over my teary eyes and pulls me away from the scene. An arm is wrapped around my back, holding me close to their side as I replaced their hand with my own, cupping my face to collect the falling tears.
"I'm so sorry, Dea," a familiar voice murmurs, continuing to lead me back to the bonfire and away from Tae. He suddenly stops and gently holds me wrists where he pulls my hands from my red, dripping face.
My eyes meet a pair of hazel ones that were a foot foot away from me. "Jiwoo told me about your plan and I'm sorry that snob had to ruin it for you."
I sniff, prying my hands from his grasp to wipe away my tears. "No...no, it's fine," I swallow, my voice shallow and low. "I don't know why I made such a big deal out of it anyways."
He straightens up from his bent down position. Just when I thought I was ready to face my classmates again, I burst back into tears. He steps foreword and pulls me into a hug that I didn't refuse. I sure needed one and since Jiwoo wasn't here, he was the next best option.
His embrace tightens at the feeling of me crying harder. I had wanted the plan to work so bad that to have it fail felt like a piece of my hard work being shattered into pieces. "It's okay, Dea. Let it all out, sweetheart."
And so I did.
