Hey guys!! I'm not gonna force you tehe, but voting on my chapters (pressing the little star) really helps the rating of my work! If you've made it this far into the story my guess is you aren't hating it, so I'd love if other people could find it and read it too! Anyhoo, that's all! Onto the story!!

. . .

You know when I said I thought there wouldn't be many ghouls? Well I was wrong. So, so wrong. My small squad of three must've killed fifty of the bastards in twelve hours and my body was getting to be pretty exhausted. Of course it was nothing I couldn't handle, I mean, I've been through much worse. (Flashbacks to the first chapters when we were so tired we had a mental breakdown lmfao) I now had some cuts and bruises, but it wasn't really anything serious, and I didn't want to waste my medical gear on myself when I needed to heal my squad.

It was night now, so Hanbee, Keijin and I went back to the CCG's base and rested for the short amount of time we were given. The squads rested in shifts so that we were less vulnerable, so my squad and I only slept for about three hours before we needed to get up and get back to work. I drove both of the men to our next scouting spot on my motorcycle, (it's a bigass fancy motorcycle) and we began clearing the new area. We paused when we found what looked to be a pile of trash, however when we got closer we discovered that it wasn't trash, it was a pile of dead bodies.

What the fuck?

"Holy shit." I said, plugging my nose and slowly approaching the sickening sight.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw a ghoul feasting on one of the dead bodies. I took out my needles and quietly moved to a position in which I could throw them. Suddenly I lost my sight on the creature and furrowed my eyebrows, frantically looking around to where it could've gone. My eyes widened and I let a groan of pain escape my mouth when I felt something impale my leg and wrap around it, slamming me against the ground.

"(Y/n)!" I heard one of the men yell as they both ran towards the ghoul who had attacked me, letting their quinques transform.

My body was picked up and slammed onto the ground again. I felt my head hit the cement and my arm snap as I was slammed onto my side by the kagune of the ghoul. I felt pain shoot through my body as I was lifted and thrown once again, this time feeling some of my ribs crack. The next time I was picked up I used all of the strength I could musters and grabbed one of my knives with my good arm, slicing it through the tentacle as hard as I could. I freed myself and fell to the ground, grunting as I hit the hard surface. I tried to stand up but felt an intense pain coming from both of my legs and my arms.

Oh right, I'm immobile.

I collapsed to the ground once more and blinked frantically, trying to get my vision less blurry and see the ghoul. Once my eyes cleared I could see Hanbee and Keijin working together to kill the monster.

Thank god these two are with me.

Once the ghoul had had enough it fled the scene, leaving us to save itself. Hanbee ran over to me and picked me up, bringing me back to Keijin who was running back towards the motorcycle and bringing it to us. I wasn't losing too much blood I didn't think, but it felt like some of my bones were broken, not to mention my leg was in bad shape and I hit my head pretty hard. I let my eyes close but didn't fall asleep, seeing as I might've had a concussion and the motorcycle was hella loud.

It felt as though around ten minutes had passed before we made it back to the base. I opened my eyes when I heard Akira's voice to see her worriedly looking at me. Was I in Hanbee's arms again? I don't remember being picked up. The voices were getting a bit muffled and suddenly I was in a car with Akira. She was speaking to me with a worried look on her face but looking at the road as she drove. I couldn't make out all of her words, but I understood "help", "okay", and "sorry".

Why am I like this? I'm fine! Pull it together, (y/n)!

"A-Akira it's... I-"

"Don't try to speak, just relax. You hit your head hard and probably have a concussion, and you're losing a lot of blood now. Did you not hear a word I've been saying?"

"N-no it's all blurry."

"Oh god. Well hang in there, we are almost home."

. . .

My eyes feel all heavy. Come on, (y/n), snap out of it. You'll need a medic to help you, right? Well they are all pretty qualified in broken limbs and head injuries by now, so it really doesn't matter who you choose. It has been three or four days since you left though, so get Angela to take care of you. That way she can fill you in on everything that's happened around the house.

"... (y/n)! Can you hear me?"

"Y-yeah. Get Angela, and one more medic from s-somewhere. I- I need them to help me."

"I'm already here, (y/n). It's me, Angela. Can you open your eyes? Can you follow the light for me?"

"Y-yeah okay."

I opened my eyes and followed the flashlight that Angela held. I felt myself slowly be relieved of pain, so they must've put some morphine or something in me. My arms were being bandaged up aswell as my neck and my legs. "W-why are you wrapping both of my legs? Only the one was hurt."

Angela looked back to me and then to my legs. "Well, one of them has the big wound from the ghoul, but the other has cuts and gashes on it, so we bandaged them both. Can you sit up so that I can bandage your head? It needed four stitches but surprisingly you don't have a concussion. How lucky, right? Now you can just sleep!"

I was going to nod but felt the bandage around my neck and stopped, instead letting myself be lifted into a sitting position and wrapped up. Both of my arms were all covered too.

Wait, where am I?

I looked around the room to see familiar faces such as Rin, flirty guy, pain in the ass guy, nice guy, coma guy, and normal guy! I was in the critical condition room.

Am I really this hurt?

"You guys are making too big a deal out of this. I'm fine, you don't need to bandage me up like a mummy."

The male medic standing next to Angela eyed me in disbelief before speaking. "You are on some drugs right now, so you probably aren't fully processing everything, but think about it. You haven't eaten or slept well in the past four days, however, you've been constantly working and fighting ghouls. That mixed in with the fight you had really don't mix well when it comes to recovering fast."

Angela nodded and looked at me, pushing some hair out of my eyes. "(Y/n)-san, according to what we've heard, you were picked up by a ghoul and slammed into the ground four times, then dropped. If that's true then you really shouldn't be worked up about us making a big deal out of this. We need you, after all."

I nodded and shrugged. "I only remember being slammed against the ground three times. The second was when I broke my arm and the third was when my rib broke." I said, putting the hand that was in better condition onto the bandages wrapped around my chest.

"You need rest. We will be back shortly to check on you and move you to your room, we just need to check with Officer Suzuya to see if he will trade you spots." Angela informed me.

"Don't bother. Juuzou and I usually sleep in the same bed anyways, so you don't have to move him." I said, lowering myself back down to the cot.

A blush spread across Angela's cheeks and she gave a small bow. "V-very well then." She said before hurrying away.

I took a deep breath and stared at the ceiling, excited to see Juuzou again but disappointed that I wasn't strong enough to handle myself in the fields. I didn't want Juuzou to think I was weak because now that I've been injured he won't want me going back to the fields, especially without him there to protect me. I guess that just put us in the same boat.

All the more reason we should be partners, I suppose.

I smiled at that thought and closed my eyes, falling into a deep sleep immediately.
