I had a feeling we were going to work very well together.

Today was the day I got to see Juuzou again, and it was also the day of the mission briefing at the CCG. I put on my regular clothes instead of my mission ones and made some coffee, having mixed feelings about going back to work so soon.

Driving to the CCG only took about four minutes on my motorcycle, probably because most of the traffic was gone because of, you know, the city being destroyed. I took my helmet off and smoothed my long hair down, taking a deep breathe and walking into the building. I was informed that the mission briefing was on the third floor in the conference room, so I hopped into the elevator and shifted my weight from my heels to my toes impatiently.

When I arrived, the conference room was only occupied by Akira and a few other highly ranked investigators.

How dangerous is this mission?

My heart tightened when I saw Juuzou sitting in one of the seats, fiddling with his stitches.

"Investigator (l/n), I'm glad you could make it. Please take a seat." Akira said, motioning to a chair and near a man I didn't recognize.

I silently took my seat, meeting Juuzou's eyes and smiling when I saw the sweet excitement his face wore. Akira began to speak again. "Let's get right to the point. We've been informed from our undercover investigation that the Ghoul Restaurant is back in business. We've created a similar plan as to the previous one, which insinuates we are sending an undercover investigator in to destroy it from the inside while the rest of us invade from the outside. Of course we are also sending the undercover investigator in to gather new and accurate information on everything that's happening."

The Ghoul Restaurant? Like the black market for ghouls? Damn.

"So, who are you sending in?"

Akira sorted through some of her papers before looking at me. "(Y/n), we need you."

Juuzou furrowed his eyebrows and stood up. "May I come too? I was sent into the restaurant undercover last time and I know what I'm doing."

Akira shook her head. "They already know what you look like from last time, Juuzou. Plus we actually have a female that matches what the Ghoul Restaurant sells now, so there's no reason to not send in Investigator (l/n)."

I let out a breath and nodded. "Alright, what do you need me to do?"

. . .

Akira explained the plan to us, and my job sounded surprisingly basic. I had to wear a rather shameless dress, but really all I had to do was listen to everything everyone said and wait to be sold to some rich ghoul. Then the CCG would break in and I'd smash some ghoul skulls and report the information I picked up. See? Easy!

The mission was being executed in one day, which was short notice, but if the plans for the mission got out sooner someone could foil them before we even infiltrate the Restaurant.

After the meeting, Juuzou and I were given the address for our partner house and I rode my motorcycle back to my house to grab my very small amount of luggage. Juuzou and I refrained from showing affection at the CCG's office just so that we could avoid any lectures that were coming our way. Once I had my luggage I headed for the location that Juuzou had already gone to.

What does a partner house even look like? Should I be excited or prepare myself for disappointment?

Arriving upon the destination, it actually looked the exact same as a squad house, but with one floor instead of two. I smiled in relief and dismounted my motorcycle, picking up the suitcase that I had strapped to the back of it. Through one of the windows I saw Juuzou chatting with another investigator, likely the one who prepped the house for us. Juuzou's now two-toned hair gracefully framed his face.
