Lily woke up late the next morning to the sun warming up the room. She rolled over and almost fell out of the bed when she saw someone staring at her.

"What in the ever loving-" Lily gasped, closing her eyes. "Hi Bertie," She sighed as the house elf got down from the bed.

"Good morning Ms. Evans!" She chirped and set down a cup of tea on the night table. "Mr. Potter made you tea and told me to bring it to you when you woke up. You are up?" She had wide eyes.

"Yeah. Thank you. Erm, Mr. Potter as in James or his dad?" Lily asked, going to take a sip but stopping as Bertie responded.

"Yes! Mr. Potter!"

"Right... but James or Fleamont?" Lily asked, slightly more forcefully but still in a nice demeanor.

"Yes! Mr. Potter!" Bertie nodded, her ears shaking up and down as she nodded forcefully. Bertie then left the room and Lily chuckled to herself. She took a sip of the tea and cringed.

"Yep it was James," Lily set the tea down after a shudder and got up. Lily pulled on her fuzzy pants and a sweatshirt before going down the stairs.

"Happy Christmas!" Sirius crashed into Lily with a giant hug that made her stumble into the wall. "Oops," Sirius pulled her back.

"Happy Christmas to you too," Lily smiled a gave him a squeeze. "I didn't think you were one for Christmas," Lily rubbed her head and sat down at the table, taking some sausage patties. Lily glanced up at James who was sitting on the other side of the table, he was trying to drink the tea he made but couldn't as he kept gagging.

"James is trying to prove the tea he made is edible," Sirius whisper-yelled and James rolled his eyes.

"Tea should not be this hard to make," James shook his head with a smile. Lily tried to ignore the slight pang in her heart she felt when she realized that James had just made tea for everyone out of the kindness of his heart because that was just the guy he was.

James was the kind of guy to wake up early and try something new to make people smile. Or the kind of guy to stay up late to make you smile when you had a hard day. He wouldn't eat the last piece of food, even if he really wanted it, because he knew that deep down you wanted it. Lily had almost forgot about all those qualities because he had been such a dick the past year. To be fair, it was sort of her fault too but... that was behind them.

Lily tried all day to find herself alone with James, but Sirius seemed to be everywhere all at once. Finally as the sun began to set, Sirius popped in a movie and Lily knew that he would be asleep within minutes. Slowly Sirius's snores echoed throughout the room and Lily sat up, turning towards James.

"Can I give you your present now?" A smile spread across Lily's face. She didn't wait for a response before going over to the kitchen and reaching into a cupboard and pulling out a little wrapped gift.

"Why is it in there?" James stood up and walked into the kitchen after her.

"In case you went looking for it," Lily grinned and moved over to him. She stood next to James and he looked down at her, amused. He gently took off the wrapping paper and the box fell apart leaving a makeup compact mirror.

"A mirror?" James looked down at it confused and then to Lily.

"Open it," Lily urged him, which he slowly did. He looked into it and Lily's voice came from it.

"Obsessed with looks much? Or just miss my voice?"

James's mouth dropped open with a smile and looked at her. He closed and opened it again.

"Oh look, it's your hair not laying flat... again. Just kidding! You look great!"

"No bloody way," James laughed, throwing his head back and then pulling Lily into a hug.

"You know how long it took me to think of this," Lily laughed happily with him. She tried not to think about how this could be the last Christmas they spent together. "You have everything."

"I love it. It's never going to leave my presence," he grinned and slipped it into his back pocket. "I, uh," he cleared his voice and his tone became a little more serious. "I got you something too."

"You already gave me the book," Lily tossed the trash in the garbage and when she turned around she saw a ring box, open, on the counter. She froze, staring at it.

"Calm down its not an engagement ring," James joked and took it out, going over to Lily. "It's an 'I love you and have loved you since first year and will always love you and please don't forget about me or hate me even if I'm being a jackass' ring," he slid it onto Lily's pointer finger on her left hand. It was just a simple, skinny, gold band. "And I saw it and thought of you," her hand was still wrapped in his.

"I-I don't know what to say," Lily stumbled over her words. "It is beautiful," she looked up at him and felt her body relax a bit more when she met his eyes. "And I love you too," she reached her hand up to run through his already messy hair. James didn't miss a beat when he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. He wrapped his arms around her waist and Lily melted into his embrace. It felt so right.

"You're not allowed to break up with me again," James muttered against her lips.

"You too," Lily whispered breathlessly. There was a crash a couple feet away from them. Lily closed her eyes with a smile before turning to see Sirius who was frozen in the room, his bowl on the floor.

"Sorry," he whisper-yelled and backed from the room slowly. He poked his head back in- "but yay you guys kissed," he gave a thumbs up and then retreated, leaving James and Lily in a fit of laughter.
