Jess's POV
I've been walking for nearly an hour now. Katelyn followed me for a bit but then just left, probably deciding that I wasn't worth it. Probably smart. If I had the strength, I'd probably be yelling at her by now.
I'm coming up the outskirts of the town of Meteli, but i'm not going to walk through, i'll go around. I don't want to possibly collapse and then people will try to keep me in the hospital since I just fainted out of nowhere.
"I can only hold you up for so much longer, probably onto for another 2 miles" Phoenix informs me, fear in her tone.
I shakily breathe in and out, nodding before pushing myself to go quicker. I'm definitely not going to make it to the barrier on my own.
(Time skip)
As expected, I collapse onto my hands and knees once we pass that next 2 miles. Phoenix could be heard breathing heavily in my mind, "I-I'm sorry..." she says.
"It's.... It's fine..." I breathe, falling onto my side. My vision is blurring. So this is it? It's over...
And then, I pass out
Shelby's POV (2 hours later)
I breathe loudly as my horse gallops quickly around trees, grasslands, bushes, buildings. I can feel that Jess to pretty close to me. I think we're coming up to the town of Meteli right now. I've never been here, but thank the lord that I have a power that can guide me through places I'm not aware of without harm.
Soon enough though, I see a crumpled up figure on the ground, in amongst a bunch of tall grass. I slow my horse to a canter and then to the trot as I near the figure.
I jump off and see that it's Jess, and she's passed out, her face pale. I pick her up. "I'm here sis, I'm here" I say, putting her onto the horses back, me getting on after, sitting behind her. I lean Jess against me and pick up the reins, keeping my arms on either side of Jess so that she won't fall off. I make sure to peer around her so I can see where we are going.
I turn the horse around and the horse begins galloping in the direction of the barrier. "Mickey, Grace, Sylvi, is there anyway one of you can support Jess until we get to the barrier?" I ask quietly, my blonde hair flying behind me.
"I can hold both of you for about an hour, but then Sylvi or Grace will need to take over. It's not easy to hold to bodies up at once" Mickey speaks. I nod, "Please do whatever you can" I say.
She hums in response, and I feel half of her spirit leave me. I see Jess's body shudder slightly, letting me know that she's being helped.
"Hang in there Jess, it's going to be okay" I say near her ear.
Phoenix's POV
Out of nowhere, I see a faded out soul of Shelby's appear in the white space with me. I recognise who it is. "Mickey?" I ask.
"Shelby asked me to help keep Jess up" she tells me, "I'm also holding Shelby at the same time, so that's why I'm translucent for you" she explains.
I nod. "I don't know if Jess will wake up ye-" I start, but get cut off.
"Phoenix... w-who's there?" I hear Jess's voice speak.
"I'm Mickey, one of Shelby's souls" Mickey informs Jess.
"W-Wait, Shelby's here!?" she asks, although she's not awake yet.
"Yes" Mickey says simply, "She found you and is taking you to the barrier where The Few and Willow are waiting".
Jess sighs in relief, "Thank god... wait, so are you holding Shelby too?" Jess asks.
"Yup, but I won't be able to stay in your body for long, Grace or Sylvi will need to take over in about an hour" Mickey explains.
I feel Jess nod, "Okay..." she says.

Sorry it's short, I'm trying to make this quickly because my laptop is probably going to break soon, so there will be a lot of time skips in the next few chapters so I can do this quickly.
