Sly's POV

I hope Shelby found Jess... I really do. Everybody is on edge about the whole thing. Kala is sprawled out on the grass with Lily sitting next to her. Kala's blue eyes are filled with worry. I understand that very well. Kala and Jess are best friends, sisters in arms, they've known each other ever since they were born. Kala was always there for Jess, and Jess was always there for Kala.

Alex, Katz and Castor are sitting back to back, quiet, silent, not a word came from their lips.

Willow is leaning against the tree across from the tree I'm currently sitting in. There's fear in her solid white eyes, she's holding her lighter in front of her to keep her sane.

Jose is worriedly practicing his archery on one of the other nearby trees.

Steven is trying to figure out a way to take down the barrier on his own, but we all know that's no possible. How Shelby got through, I'll never know, but there's no time to question that.

Lake is sitting next to me, playing with the end of her dress, obviously confused about the whole situation, but she knew that everybody was worried about something She was definitely aware that it had something to do with Jess, but nobody was speaking about it, so she wasn't sure.

I was lazily staring at the forest of which Shelby disappeared into, hoping that at any moment, she'd appear with Jess in tow. Only time would tell when that would become reality though.

Lake looks up at me and asks, "Dad, can you sing for me?".

I was surprised at her question. "Why?" I ask quietly. She shrugs, "You're a great singer!" she smiles, "and, you look like you really want to" she continues, nudging me playfully with her elbow.

I look into her dark brown eyes before sighing, giving up with a small smile. It's the least I can do to keep her spirits up, right?

(And we'll see that soon!)

Jess's POV

Soon enough, I woke up to the sound of hooves among long grass. My weakened eyes open as I feel the sensation of my body leaned back against somebody else's.

"Jess!" a chirpy and delighted high-pitched female voice calls into my ears, "Thank god!" she continues.

I glance back weakly to see my younger twin there. I smile, "H-Hey Shelby" I grin, speaking quietly.

She used the sides of her arms to hug me while keeping a hold on her horse's reins. I smile again and lean back into her again. I can feel Phoenix and part of Mickey keeping me up-right, so I won't topple over and down to the ground. There's a numbness flowing through me that was very unnatural, but we all know why I'm so numb right now.

"How are you feeling?" Shelby asks.

I shrug slightly, "I-I don't know..." I mumble, honestly unsure on how to answer her question.

She nods, "I understand" she smiles lightly.

The next few minutes, which in reality was 10 minutes, were silent between us. The only sound that could be heard was the horses hooves on the grass, dirt, or the occasional pathway, or the occasional noises the horses made as she went along. I don't actually know the name of Shelby's horse.

But now I'm wondering why she didn't just summon her Pegasus, Buttercup. I won't question her though.

"Hey Jess, you look like you want to sing right now" Shelby says to me.

It's true, I do feel like singing. Even though I'm very weak at the moment, I just want to sing.

"Y-Yeah..." I mumble. Shelby smiles, "If you want to, you can, but if you need to stop, then stop, don't strain yourself" she nods.
