"Hello. I'm Draco. Draco Malfoy," he said offering his hand. Harry just stared at it for a few seconds trying to decide what to do. He was still nervous about what people will say or how they will treat him. Pushing that all aside he thought about this boy, Draco, being his first friend.
"Hello. I'm Harry. Harry Potter," he said shaking Draco's hand as Draco takes in his bright green eyes. Hearing Harry's name felt like a shock going through Draco, but he wouldn't show it. He knew that everyone would be bombarding Harry the rest of his life for something Harry probably has absolutely no memories of, but Draco won't.
"Are you going to be a first year, then, Harry," Draco asked shocking Harry. He gave a small smile knowing Draco recognized his name but appreciated him not making a big deal about it. The boys talked as Narcissa made her way over to Petunia.
"Well they seemed to have hit it off. Hello. I'm Narcissa Malfoy, Draco's mother," she offered her hand to Petunia the same way Draco had moments ago. Petunia took it.
"Hello. I'm Petunia Dursley. I'm Harry's aunt," Petunia shook the witch's hand. She was a beautiful woman, very elegant.
"Did you raise Harry? He's a fine young man, very composed, given all the stares he's received today," Narcissa said watching Petunia's reaction. She knew who they were. She knew who Harry was at least.
"I was hoping he wouldn't notice. He hasn't said anything about it either. I've been trying to make sure to keep him distracted from all the gawking, mostly from the older shoppers and shopkeepers. I'm assuming James was very well known for them to recognize him from just his looks," Petunia sighed and glanced at Narcissa.
Narcissa hummed with a nod while watching the boys chat away. She would assume it was the hair and the glasses.
"Well you have my discretion. Draco doesn't have many friends. He's very outspoken and doesn't make them easily, but he's taken a liking to Harry. He'll no doubt gush to his father once he gets home about his new friend. Don't fear though, my husband is just as discreet as me if not more," Narcissa assured her with a small smile.
"Harry is just the same, honestly. He's known from a very young age that he wasn't like the rest of the children from home and he's sort of isolated himself. Apart from my son, his cousin Dudley, he doesn't spend time with other children. I only fear that once he's at Hogwarts and people know who he really is, he'll be taken advantage of. He'll be all alone in an unfamiliar place," Petunia stopped herself before she got too emotional. "I just worry."
"I know what you mean. I'll miss Draco terribly. Not having many friends, I worry that he'll be lonely. Maybe we'll get lucky that our boys will be together and we won't have to worry so much," Narcissa was looking at Draco and Harry affectionately.
Draco was finished before Harry, but the Malfoy's stuck around to chat. He was pleased to see his mother getting along with Harry's aunt. Today must've been odd for her too being the first either have been surrounded by actual magic.
Once Harry was done and everyone paid, they all made their way out the door. Hagrid looked shocked to see the Malfoys, but everyone seemed to be friendly so he didn't say anything. He was even more shocked to hear Mrs. Malfoy acknowledge him with a hello and kind smile. Hagrid returned it with a nod and a smile of his own.
"Sit with me on the train," Draco said to Harry rather abruptly causing everyone to pause. Hearing his mother clear her throat, he rephrased, "I mean— will you sit with me on the train? Please?"
Petunia could see what Narcissa meant about him being outspoken. She looked at the other woman to see Narcissa giving her an apologetic look and Petunia only grinned back at her. This boy might be good for Harry. Harry's too quiet. He could benefit from a little outspokenness.
"Yeah, okay. Hagrid is going to meet us at King's Cross and help us onto the platform. Will I meet you on the platform or on the train? Will your friends accept me," Harry asked with a tinge of worry.
"I don't have many and they all get on my nerves. They're too loud and rowdy for me most of the time," Draco stated matter-of-factly, then he smiled. "You don't have to worry. We can meet up on the platform and board the train together if you'd like."
"Okay," Harry grinned.
Saying their goodbyes, the group split ways and headed home. Harry was finally over his nerves and was feeling excited. He finally had a friend and Draco would be in his year, too.
Petunia and Harry got home just after lunch time and decided to have tea and biscuits in the garden to hold off till dinner. They talked about their day in Diagon Alley, the train ride that would take him to the castle, and Draco Malfoy.

Draco was all smiles when came through the floo arriving home. He went straight to his room and couldn't wait for dinner. He couldn't wait to tell his father all about his new friend.
Everyone knew of Harry Potter and Draco always assumed he would be conceited, being the one who brought down the Dark Lord. Only, Draco found him to be shy and timid at first. After talking for some time about anything and everything, Draco found his company quite enjoyable. For being raised by muggles, Harry had a lot of knowledge about spells and classes.
Harry has just as much ambition as Draco did and, from what he gathered, Harry felt the need to prove himself. Entering into a world where everyone "knows" you, can put pressure on anyone. He already knows people are going to be watching Harry's every move and he can tell Harry knows too.
"Welcome back, Master Draco," Dobby, Draco's personal elf, entered the room with a tray of tea and biscuits. "Dinner won't be for a little while so Dobby thought the young Master would like a snack till then."
"Thank you, Dobby. That's very kind of you," Draco gave the elf a smile and a biscuit before Dobby started putting his things into his school trunk. Grabbing a book from his desk, Draco read till it was time for dinner.
He made his way to his seat across from his mother and next to his father. The table was enchanted to grow to size for its occupants. Draco's seen it stretched all across the room before for dinner parties. Dinner looked fantastic as always, roast and veggies, Draco's favorite. His father, Lucius, asked about their day of shopping.
"I met Harry Potter," Draco stated. "We're going to meet on the platform and ride to school together. He's already very knowledgeable about Hogwarts, considering he was raised by muggles. Mother seemed to hit it off with his aunt. She seemed nice."
Lucius was shocked, but wouldn't show it. He glanced at his wife and she gave a slight nod, so slight it would go unnoticed to the untrained eye. She would give him the details later.
"That's wonderful. Was he nervous? About school, of course. It can't be easy to go from one world to another. I don't know how muggleborns do it, honestly," Lucius carried on the conversation and watched as his son gushed over Harry Potter. If this friendship becomes stronger, Lucius would need to have a talk with Dumbledore.
Once dinner was finished, the family made their way upstairs for bed. They stopped at Draco's door and said good night. Lucius and Narcissa continued to their room hand in hand. They waited to speak till they were in bed. Narcissa went to her jewelry box first as Lucius went to the closet. When the two were finally ready for bed, they laid down in the on the kings size bed and met in the middle.
"So," Lucius began, tucking one arm under her head and wrapping his other over her waist. "Harry Potter. Wow," he whispered.
"Imagine my shock when none other walked into the same shop as us. I was even more shocked to see how easily Draco took to him. I don't see this ending. I know we decided to change and leave behind old ways, but I never imagined our son befriending the Harry Potter," she chuckled.
"We'll give it a month of them being in school and if they continue as friends, good friends, I'll set a meeting with Dumbledore. I've been trying to think of what to do with what I have on him. I never wanted to go to the Ministry, can't trust anyone, but Dumbledore?" He looked down at Narcissa and she nodded her approval.
With that being said, they continued to talk about their day until they fell asleep together, feeling a bit more at peace knowing they had a plan. With hope, Dumbledore would except them and their intel, for Draco's sake and his new friend.
