I parked in the nearest open spot and got out of my car, locking it, and headed towards the front doors. I had already gotten my schedule, so I walked down the halls looking for my classes.
"Need some help?" I heard someone speak behind me. I turned around and saw two girls and a guy standing there.
They were all tall. One of the girls had long, blonde hair, with some red highlights in them. The other girl had long, brown, curly hair. Finally, the guy had brown/black hair. Him and the curly haired girl were holding hands.
"Erm, yeah." I said.
"I'm Chloe." The blonde said, "and this is Grace and Eli."
"Hi, I'm Ellie." I said waving.
"Back to the first question, you said you needed help?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah. I can't find any of my classes." She took the paper out of my hands and looked it over.
"You have three classes, plus lunch with me." Chloe said.
"You have two classes, plus lunch with me." Grace said.
"You have two classes, plus lunch with me." Eli said.
We talked for a while, all of us exchanging numbers. They helped me find my classes and led me to the gym until the bell rang.
My morning classes went by smoothly, with the help of having Chloe, Grace, or Eli in one of those classes. Lunchtime finally came, Grace and I met up with the other two in the lunch line.
"So how's your first day been so far?" Chloe asked me.
"Pretty good, actually. All of my teachers have been pretty nice so far."
"That's good. You must have not had Mrs. Valerie yet."
"Umm, I think I have her next?" I said digging in my bag to look for my paper.
"Yeah, I think you have it with me next." Grace said. I nodded and gave up looking for the paper; instead, I dug in my bag for my lunch card.
We got our trays and I followed them to a table in the center of the room.
"Kenzie and Logan should be here in a minute." Chloe said. As soon as she said that, a girl with carmel hair and a guy with blonde hair walked to the table and sat down beside me.
"Hi, I'm McKenzie, you can call me Kenzie though." She said holding her hand out, smiling. I gladly shook it. "And this is my boyfriend, Logan." We exchanged 'hello's.'
We ate lunch and talked. I got to know a lot more about everyone in the group. The bell rang and Grace and I walked to English III.
"Just warning you: she's a complete butthole." She said as we walked into the room. "You can sit by me." She said and I followed her to sit in the empty seat to her left.
"Okay, class, we have a new student," Mrs. Valerie said looking down at her paper, "Ms. Ellie Thomas." She finished, looking around the room until her eyes found mine. She smiled brightly. "Would you like to come up to the front of the class and share some things about you?" I shook my head back and forth slightly. "I think you do." She finished, waving her hand for me to come up. "Come on now, don't be shy. Quickly, we have things to do."
I rolled my eyes slightly and stood up, walking to the front of the class.
"Where did you move from?" She asked me.
"Louisiana."
"What made you move all the way here?" She pressed on. She was a nosy one.
"My parent's got a divorce."
"How old are you?"
"Seventeen."
"Okay class, if you would like, you may ask her any questions that come to mind."
So I stood in front of the class awkwardly answering questions from people I didn't even know. Most of them just stared at me. After what felt like forever, Mrs. Valerie told me I could go sit down in my seat because we had to start on reading 'The Great Gatsby.'
The day finally ended and I drove home.
"How was school today?" My dad asked as I walked in the door.
"Pretty good."
"Did you make any friends?"
"Yeah, a few." I said setting my backpack down on the kitchen table.
"That's awesome. Got any homework?"
"Nope. Thankfully."
"This calls for another celebration. You made it through your first day at a new school!" He said, congratulating me.
"Sure! Where are we going?"
"Colton's?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Yeah!"
"Alright, let's go then!"
