The following Friday night, we all agreed to go bowling. We met at the bowling alley around five o'clock.
"Let's get this show on the road," Eli said; he was getting impatient.
"Babe, calm down." Chloe said, chuckling.
Eli typed everyone's name in and soon enough, we had started. About halfway through the first game, everybody went to order some food, use the bathroom, or play some games. Jaxon went to order a pizza for Jed, me, and him to share.
"You know," Jed started to say, taking a drink of his vanilla milkshake. I nodded at him to continue on.
"I never expected Jaxon to go after someone like you." He said, taking another drink of his milkshake.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I looked behind me and saw Jaxon, now standing between us. He tossed the pizza box on the table, sitting down in his seat on the other side of me. He had a look of amusement/nervousness in his eyes.
"It's nothing bad. I just think she's a good choice for your first girlfr-ow!" Jed said rubbing the back of his head, "what was that for?"
"Don't listen to him, I've had tons of girlfriends." He said, waving Jed away.
"Yeah girl friends." He said elaborating that it was two separate words, not one combined, "but he's never had a girlfriend, he's just trying to seem cool to you. He's- Jaxon, I swear, you hit me one more time-" he said rubbing the back of his head again, "anyway, he's always kept to himself, never talked to a girl, too shy. That's why I was surprised when I heard that he was taking you on a date, tonight. Speaking of, shouldn't you head out now?" He asked checking his watch, "it's almost seven o'clock."
"Your right, we do need to get going. Bye!" Jaxon shouted, grabbing my hand and leading me out the door, leaving the whole pizza on the table. I noticed Jed's eyes on me, just looking at me, all the way up until he couldn't see me anymore.
We walked outside and got in his blacked out 2015 Ford Mustang.
"Where are we going?" I asked as we buckled up.
"That's a surprise." Jaxon said, smirking, putting the key in the ignition, the car roaring to life.
"Will you please tell me?" I asked, pouting.
"Sorry, babe, but I'm not going to tell you." He said, backing out of the parking spot.
"Why not?"
"Because, I want to surprise you for our first official date." He said, pulling out onto the street.
"Fine." I said, huffing.
He chuckled, and turned on the the radio. The Fray's 'Look After You' started playing softly through the speakers. He started humming softly along to the music as he changed lanes and turned down a street. His left hand resting on the steering wheel, the other around his mouth, resting on the crease in between his bottom lip and chin.
After that song was over, Green Day's 'Minority' came on. He turned up the radio and continued driving. He continued weaving in and out traffic for a few more minutes before we finally pulled into a parking lot. He turned off the car and I looked around, taking in the surroundings of where we were.
"We're going ice skating?" I asked.
"Do you not like ice skating? We can leave and go do something else. I'm sorry, I didn't know-" Jaxon started rambling on before I cut him off.
"Jaxon, I want to go ice skating. I just know know how, so you'll need to help me." I said, laughing at how nervous he is.
"Oh," he simply said, releasing a breath he was holding, "well I can help you with that."
"Good," I said laughing, "so are we going ice skating outside?" I asked and he nodded, "in the dark?"
"Yeah, you didn't know you could do that?" He asked laughing.
"No, I've never been before."
"I'll help you, don't worry."
"Good, now let's go." I said. We got out of his car and walked in, Jaxon keeping his hand in mine.
