It took Kaya some time to regain her composure but as soon as she was able to process what had just happened, Kaya tumbled back into the snow along with a young boy who looked much younger than her. As if the day could not get weirder, a girl and boy both dressed in water tribe clothes came running to them.

"What is going on?!" Kaya asked.

"Im not sure! One moment I was yelling at my brother and the next we find someone stuck in Ice and then we find you. So to be honest, Im just as lost as you." The girl replies. She kneeled down to the unconscious young boy.

"Hey, Im Sokka. Im Katara's brother." The boy in water tribe clothes says while extending his arm out, helping Kaya back up.

"Thanks, My name is Kaya." She replied.

Once everyone was slightly more relaxed, the young boy finally woke up and asked Katara if she wanted to go ride penguins or something like that. Kaya was not paying much attention because she was busy trying to get over her terrible migraine.

The group later found out that the young boy, who's name is Aang was an Airbender! Kaya had a strong feeling that Aang was the avatar because of Vaatu's messages that she kept hearing but she remembered Iroh's wisdom that he had shared with her.

" The dark spirit is using your body as a vessel to destroy the avatar but I know you. You will always make the right decision. It is up to you to choose your own path."

Sokka, Katara, Aang and Kaya ended up catching a ride to the southern water tribe on Aang's giant "flying" bison, Appa which was not exactly flying at all.

"So, Kaya right?" The water tribe boy asked her.

"Yep that's me." Kaya responded.

"Where are you from? I mean you are wearing water tribe clothes so I assume you are from the north right? I would have seen you if you were from our village." Sokka asked.

"Well, uh, yeah. Im from the north." Kaya lied. She did not want to reveal her identity to them because they were only mere strangers.

After a couple hours of sailing the icy ocean on Appa's back they finally made It to the village. The young water tribe girl carried the Airbender to a small hut and walked over to Kaya.

"Im sorry, I did not properly introduce myself before. Im Katara and this is my home." She said with arms extended towards the very small village.

"Oh, no worries. I was actually looking for the southern water tribe myself so im glad that we ran into each other." Kaya replied.

"Kitara? Is that you?" An old woman asked Kaya as she approached her.

"Gran gran! This is kaya! Shes from the northern water tribe! Sokka and I found her on her way here!" Katara said.

"Oh, if I may have a word with Kaya. I would love to have some tea with someone from the sister tribe." The old woman said with a grin.

Kaya followed the old woman into an igloo and sat down at the table.

"Why did you call me Kitara? Do you know who I am?" Kaya asked confused.

"I must have confused you with your mother. You are truly a spitting image of her. And please call me gran gran."

"But I don't understand. How do you know my mom?"

"Kitara was best friends with my daughter, Kya, Sokka and Katara's mother. I know you are protecting your identity but trust me my granddaughter is smart and she will find out. When I found out about your abilities I knew that you would be used as a weapon in the Fire nation so I offered to take care of you but your mother would not heed my warnings. I never saw her again." Gran gran replied.

"Do you know what happened to my parents?" Kaya asked.

"No, im sorry."

"Gran gran! Get the village! Aang is awake!" Katara burst into the igloo.

Everyone was rejoicing as Aang showed off his air bending tricks. The next day, Aang and Katara went to go ride penguins and Kaya stayed behind with Sokka, who was still a bit skeptical of Aang.

"Hey Sokka."

"Hi Kaya! How'd you sleep?" He asked with an awkward grin on his face.

"Well. Thank you for asking. I was wondering if you would like some help rebuilding your watch tower." Kaya asked.

"I would love the help buuut this is more of a man's job. Maybe you should go help gran gran make dinner or something." Sokka replied.

Kaya remembered her time in the royal palace and how even if someone said something that upset you, you must hold your tongue and be the bigger person.

"Of course. You wouldn't want a weak girl to ruin your tower anyways." Kaya responded and rolled her eyes.

Just then a flare is shot right into the sky. A signal to the fire nation!

Katara and Aang came running back shortly after.

Sokka decided that it was best for Aang to leave and everyone started fighting. Kaya just stood back and let everything happen.

As soon as Aang left soot began falling from the sky. A much to familiar smell filling the air. A fire nation ship was close.

Kaya did all she could. She gathered all of the children and brought them back to their parents and as she was making sure that everyone was safe, the fire nation ship crashed into the makeshift wall causing Sokka to tumble to the ground.

The front of the ship lowered to reveal Kaya's first love, The Banished Prince himself, Zuko.
