Wrapped in a layer of blankets, pillows and comforters, I woke up the next day in pure bliss. However, that lasted for all of 5 seconds before I was given a harsh dose of reality by the now excruciating pain in my side. Shit, with everything that had happened yesterday at the shopping mall, I had completely forgotten to pick up any painkillers for my ribs. Padding over to the bathroom sink, I examined my injuries. The whole of my right side was covered in purple, black marks- I winced just looking at it. Luckily, the cuts and other minor injuries had healed pretty well but the ribs... well, they looked bad to say the least. I didn't think they were broken but they were definitely badly bruised. Cheers for that mum. Huffing in annoyance, I let my top fall back down- there was no point in worrying about it now, I'd just have to get painkillers as soon as I could.

Heading downstairs, I felt almost...shy? Last night had been fun but I didn't know how to act now. I kept telling myself to not get too close but I couldn't help but hope. More than anyone I had ever met, they all truly seemed to care about me and were the only people I felt safe with. I didn't even lock my door anymore.

Walking into the kitchen, I was met with a chorus of mornings. I smiled to myself, glad that last night had actually started a bond between us, and muttered a small 'morning,' back before reaching up for my Cheerios'. Thankfully, they had been moved down to a lower shelf level- probably for my benefit- so I could actually reach them. I sat down at the table next to Jared- not before he managed to ruffle my hair up- and started gulping down my breakfast. God, I loved breakfast.

Just as I was halfway through eating, Wyatt strode into the room, his demanding exterior immediately making us all go quiet.

'Family meeting in the living room in 10 minutes,' and with that announcement he walked right back out.

'I wonder what this is about,' Jordan mused, 'He hardly ever calls family meetings unless it's for... never mind.' With the last part, Jordan looked down at me before exchanging glances with the other two. Ugh, I hated when they did that. Even more annoying, was the fact that I had no idea what the looks even meant apart from that there was clearly a secret that I didn't know about. Whatever, I'd find out soon- I'd make sure of it.

10 minutes later, we were all seated in one of the many living rooms of the house. Thankfully, Dylan didn't put me on his lap this time, but I was still squashed into Jared's side as all five of us had attempted to sit on a 4-person couch.

Wyatt came in just as Dylan was about to throw a fit because Jordan was quote on quote, 'putting his fucking ars on my thigh.' At this point, I was having to stuff my face into Jared's chest to prevent myself from laughing in their faces- pretty sure Dylan would have actually thrown a tantrum if he had seen that this was actually amusing me- while Aaron just observed from the side, a grin on his face.

Wyatt silenced us with one growl of 'Stop this.' Red faced (Dylan with anger, the rest of us from laughter) we fell into silence almost at once. Wyatt collapsed into the seat, linking his fingers together before starting.

'As you all know, Alyssa will be starting school tomorrow...'

To be honest, I zoned out after the first part, purely from surprise. Sorry, Alyssa will be doing what?

Alyssa wasn't informed about this apparently, I frowned. Like seriously, maybe Wyatt could've slipped this bit of information to me, the person who would actually be starting school TOMORROW. Listening in again, I heard Wyatt say, 'So now we know the rules, I hope we can make this year a successful and easy one.' Oops, must have missed the rules then. Oh well. In reply to Wyatt's last statement, I nodded along with the rest of my brothers.

With the meeting over, the others slowly left one by one but I lingered behind.

'Wyatt? Do you think I could please take some painkillers? I have a headache.' I crossed my fingers behind my back, praying Wyatt believed me. He observed me for a second before nodding. Following him back to the kitchen, he spoke back to me, 'May I ask when you got this headache? You seemed fine at breakfast.' Fighting the urge to snap back that, how could he even have known how I was at breakfast, he was hardly there, I replied with a, 'Yeah, well I mean it's been a bit achy all morning but got bad just now.' For extra measures, I tried to bat my eyelashes innocently. Wyatt raised his eyebrows at me. I stopped.

Holding my hand out, he passed me the packet.

'Take two now and if it still hurts in four hours, take another two,' he instructed me. Smiling at him, I nodded, tucking the packet in my pocket whilst walking back upstairs. Dry swallowing the other two, I smiled to myself. Mission completed. Hopefully, my ribs will go back to normal after a week or something. Until then, all I had to do was ensure my brothers didn't find out.

Hi guyss! Thank you so much to everyone who's been voting and adding to their reading lists, it honestly means the world to me :) Hope you enjoy this chapter, sorry it's a bit shorter but I've got a long one coming up next when Alyssa finally gets to her new school- some new characters will be introduced :)). Anyways, thanks again to anyone reading! xx
