✸ ✸ ✸ ✸ ✸ ✸"Absolutely not." Draco declared, slamming the inventory book on the table and staring into Lennon's eyes with a deep fire. "But Draco—" Lennon started but he held his hand up and turned away, "I don't want to hear anything about that Weasley." Lennon frowned and tried not to get upset. To be fair, she understood why he didn't want her leaving to go see him. Lennon also knew she had already packed her bag to go see Charles. She had planned and unplanned for weeks. With Harry and Ginny's wedding coming soon, she knew she needed to set things straight with him—whether Draco wanted her to or not. Lennon dropped the subject and Draco didn't give it a second thought. He thought he had convinced Lennon to leave it alone. But once Draco fell asleep, Lennon quietly gathered her things and left Draco a small note. She quietly left the house with her things and headed straight for Romania. When Draco awoke the next morning to an empty bed and a note, a feeling of mistrust and disappointment raged deep within him.

Lennon stood on Charlie's porch with her duffel bag over her shoulder, not sure if she should knock. It was very cold, and she almost could feel herself missing the weather and dragons. She got up the courage to knock, hoping he would be awake enough to hear her. It was about five in the morning, and when the door swung open Charlie wondered if he was still dreaming. "Lenny?" His morning voice questioned, deep with confusion and tiredness. "Hello, Charles." Lennon replied, a coolness in her tone that suppressed the anxiety she was truly feeling. Charlie moved out the way to let her in and Lennon took a hesitant step into her past. "So, you finally sick of Malfoy?" Charlie questioned once Lennon got settled into his small kitchen. He passed her a coffee and helped himself to one. He couldn't help but take in how beautiful Lennon looked, sending a pang of hurt into his heart once more. "We are still together. I wanted to come see you...we didn't end on good terms." Lennon admitted, meeting eyes with the coldness of Charlie's. Charlie didn't like to admit how well Lennon looked. Her honey brown eyes were bright with love and hope, something he thought she had lost after Fred passed. The sickening thought of Lennon moving on hurt Charlie, but it was his fault this happened. He pushed her away again. "You can't tell me you couldn't possibly have believe I never loved you?" Charlie finally spoke as the awkward tension grew between the two. Lennon fidgeted with the locket around her neck, "As a best friend, Charles. That's what we were." Another pang—Charlie wondered if she hurt him on purpose at this point. Charlie sighed, running a hand through his hair as he began to recall stories of his past with Lennon. She sat and listened, hoping to understand what was going on with her best friend.
I entered the local dragon shop after a long day of work, only to see a beautiful girl with bright eyes and curly hair. Not only did her looks have me do a double take, but her laugh caught me off guard. She looked shy, like she didn't know whether it was okay for her to laugh at her coworkers jokes. I walked up to her with a sense of confidence, but inside I burned with nervousness. "Hi, I'm Charles Weasley. You can call me Charlie." I spoke before I could chicken out. "I'm Lennon Rose. You can call me Lenny." Lennon blurted out, "I'm unsure of why I said the last part. Nobody ever calls me Lenny." The comment made us stare at each other before I began laughing at the cute comment.
I gathered the flowers I had picked from the local farmers market and headed towards the shop to surprise Lennon. When I got there, I was shocked to see Fred. He had asked me last week if I liked her, but I told him no. Why did I tell him no? It was one of our nights. Lennon and I go out once a week to get a drink or bite to eat. It was nice catching up and spending time together. Sometimes we would go back to my place or hers and talk for hours into the night. I had really hoped to surprise her with flowers and ask her out on a date—not just as friends. As I watched Fred laugh at something Lennon said and reach over to grab her hand, I knew I had no chance to ruin that for my little brother. "Lenny, I brought you flowers." I smiled, passing them to Lennon calmly. Fred gave me a strange look, as if confused by my actions. "Thanks, Charles. They're beautiful. I'll make sure to put them in some water. I'll be right back." Lennon replied before kissing my cheek and bouncing off to find a vase. "I thought you didn't like her?" Fred questioned, confused by my actions. "I don't. We are just friends." The words felt vile coming from my mouth. Lennon came back and took Fred's hand, leaving to go out with him. How could she not know how I feel?
Fred and Lennon had been dating for months when Lennon came to me crying. She cried on my shoulder for hours, not telling me what was wrong. When she finally spoke, I wash shocked to find out that she was crying because Fred was talking about marriage. The idea scared her and she felt bad for panicking and leaving him. "What if he thinks I never want to get married?" Lennon asked me. I didn't know what to say. Why did this scare her so much? "It wasn't like he was getting on one knee today. What made you leave?" I finally asked, holding her tightly and pulling the hair from her eyes. The actions made me wish she was mine even more. "I just want to make the right choice. We've been together for a year and I don't want him trying to marry me because the war is getting scarier." Lennon admits. She stared into my eyes and sighed, "Sometimes I wonder if you and I would have ever worked out. I know that's silly." The words shocked me as Lennon waited for my response. I should have stopped myself, but I leaned forward and kissed her. It should have been a quick kiss, but Lennon put her hands gently on my face and held me to her. When Lennon pulled away, there was guilt in her eyes.
"Do you remember that day?" Charlie finally asked after reminiscing over him and Lennon. Lennon had tears in her eyes as she stared at her fidgeting hands, holding her locket tightly, "I remember." Charlie watched her for a moment, wondering if she would speak again. As silence followed he knew he had to speak up before she left him once more, "Why did you kiss me that day? We never talked about it." Lennon rubbed her eyes at the question, not truly knowing what to say," I don't know, Charles." Lennon stood up and placed her coffee mug in the sink. Charlie stood as well and when Lennon put her mug down Charlie wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her close. As they stood face to face, Lennon wondered why she kissed him. She had been happy with Fred, but she let him kiss her. Charlie looked down at her lips and back up to her eyes, wondering why Lennon hadn't pushed him away yet. "If you're so happy with other men, why do you always come back to me?" Charlie whispered, lips almost touching Lennon's. Lennon's eyes widened at the comment, feeling like Charlie was mocking her. Her lungs felt like she wasn't getting enough oxygen and as she finally came to her senses she shoved Charlie off of her and walked into the living room.
What am I doing? Lennon thought without another glance at Charlie.
