WARNING: Don't be dumbasses and try anything from the previous chapter or this one. This is all fiction and definitely not fact-checked, I'm not a martial artist or a medic, this is all for badassery purposes. (Obviously, none of you will do anything but I felt the need to say it because this is all BS.) I love you, stay safe 😂❤❤❤❤❤

I lean against the wall of some shop, trying to slow down my heartbeat so that I minimise the amount of blood escaping my body. I tap on my watch and open the heart rate monitor.

This little trick was part of The Family training programme. The process was gruelling, trainees would get stabbed in non-fatal areas and then it gradually got more dangerous. For me that stage was easy, but after you survived getting hurt in all those areas, the weapon that was used got upgraded. Getting shot was 100% more painful. A lot of people didn't make it- no they didn't die, we have medical staff on the scene, we're not animals-ish. Potential recruits get scared off, fearing for their lives. No one said being a gang member was easy.
I scan the surrounding area, checking to see if anyone followed me and to actually see where the hell I managed to end up. The area is familiar to me because it's not too far from a shipping yard that the family occasionally exports from, unfortunately, this makes me more vulnerable as members could be lurking around. Since my phone got executed, there's no signal on my watch to call or text for help and I can't risk waiting around trying to connect to some of the Wi-Fi hotspots. I check my heart rate again before continuing to walk along the pavement.
70 bpm
The streets are tinged orange as the sun starts to set, normally I would have taken a picture but my phone is as useful as ice cream in the winter. As I'm walking along I get a lot of wide-eyed stares directed at me, I don't blame them really, I look like I just walked off the set of the walking dead or something. I have a hole on the left side of my stomach and a bullet lodged into my right arm; My hands look like I made a blood pact with the devil and let me tell you, it definitely burns like hell.
Whilst I'm walking, I turn down several streets and alleyways to lose any tail I might have. However, by doing this, I unknowingly make it harder for anyone to track me. Other than the people that were scared to walk past me, I had people stopping to offer a ride to the hospital but I didn't accept- Mostly because I couldn't trust anyone but also because I would risk putting them in harm's way. I even heard some of them call the police so I told them to mention my name in the call, hoping that the information would somehow reach Steve.
"He's not looking for you, no one wants you," I stop in my tracks and look around me for that voice that shows up in nightmares. When I don't see anyone I shake my head to wake myself up. I instantly regret doing that when I get a little light-headed.
"God, even in hallucinations you're an asshole," I grumble to myself as I carry on walking, ignoring Ryans voice. I was only able to take a few steps when my vision blurs for a split second. I then get a warm sensation trickling down my arm and I examine the wound in my arm. The bullet must have moved because the amount of blood flowing out of my arm has increased significantly since I first got hit. Heading into an alleyway...again (Honestly, I should just live in them now) I duck down in between 2 dumpsters and carefully take my shirt off, not wanting to cause any more damage to all of my wounds. I take a deep breath before gripping onto the fabric and pull it apart. I clench my teeth together as the pain pulsates in my hands and travels up my arm. Tying together the ends that I just ripped, I pull it through my injured arm and over my head, creating a makeshift sling to rest my arm. I slide myself down the wall and rest amongst the trash bags. Wow if anyone took a picture of me now I would look like a meme.
