Oahu, Hawaii - 6:45 am

The plane just touches down on the island when I receive a text from Ryan,

Ryan: I've just sent the address of your place and the booking details of the rental car to your phone.

Yasmin: 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Ryan: Don't mess up, or do. Yeah, hope you mess up.

Yasmin: 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Ugh, I get that he might be sceptical of me because of my ties to the Lang family but this dude straight up hates my guts and I don't understand why.
I pass by passport control and go to collect my luggage. I didn't know how long I would be gathering intel for so I thought packing for 2 weeks minimum would be good enough. Thankfully I didn't have to wait long for my bag so I got to the car rental office earlier than I had expected.

"You're lucky no one booked this, here are your keys miss," Zeke, a car rental employee, smiles at me.

"Thank you so much, " I smile back at Zeke and head out to where the car is parked. Ryan, the asshole, booked me a Fiat 500 and when I saw it in the reservation that he sent I vowed that I would not be caught dead driving that car. I mean it is a nice car but oh my god it looks like a toy, like how did he expect me to potentially chase people with that car. It was a good thing that Zeke allowed me to change the car, it costs more to rent but hey, when the FBI is paying I got to take the chance right?

It was 8 am by the time that I reached the apartment and swept the room to make sure Ryan didn't order cameras to be installed. After I was satisfied that there wasn't anything in the apartment that shouldn't be, I unpacked my clothes and got ready to go out for a run. I had time as I was scheduled to meet with the five-0 task force at 12 pm.

I ran for about an hour around the neighbourhood just to get used to my surroundings and make a mental note of where things were, I then started to make my way towards the beach. I am in Hawaii after all, so it would be dumb of me to not spend this free time to soak up the sun. As I make my way to the beach I start to think about the journey of my life and how I ended up here. Flashbacks of my mother and father start to invade my mind and my hand goes straight to the necklace that is bouncing around my neck ~

"Happy birthday my little sunshine," My dad says as he hands me a little box wrapped in bright pink paper.

"Dad I'm 18!" I roll my eyes and take the box from him. I unwrap the paper and open the box, my smile immediately widens when I see a sunflower necklace laid carefully between the tissue paper. When I pick the necklace up, the left side of the flower moves a bit and reveals part of a message engraved on the inside. I move the pieces of the flower apart so that I could read the full message: You are my sunshine. I look up at my father who now has a tear rolling down his face.

"No matter how old you get, you will always be our brightest light - sunshine," He says as he pulls me into a tight hug with my mother, who is also crying.

~

I stop at a traffic light and I wipe a tear that has escaped my eyes as I wait for the little green man to light up. The sun is getting higher in the sky as it gets closer to noon, it's making me regret not bringing my water bottle with me. After a few moments, the light turns green and I cross over to where the path leads to the beach.
~

"What do you mean they're gone!" I shout to my uncle. I pick up my phone, frantically touching the screen to call my mother.
"Yasmin.."
No answer. I then call my dad. No answer. I call my mother again in the hope that she might answer this time. No answer. I scream and throw my phone against the wall, frustrated and angry that they won't pick up, denying the reason that they won't pick up is that they are dead.
"Yasmin," My uncle touches my shoulder and I break down in tears, "It's going to be okay," He says as he wraps me in a hug and rubs my back in a comforting way.
"They're gone. They left me behind," I sob into my uncle's chest, "I should have been with them,"
~

My feet sink into the sand as I run along the water. If my mother was here right now she would scold me for getting sand into my shoes and then eventually creating a mess at home when I take my shoes off. I miss my parents. I only stayed in the business for them because I thought it would make them proud of me, carrying on the family legacy. In truth, I've always hated what my family did for a living; I hated that it was the norm for me and Guy to spend the night training and not out partying; that it was normal to stitch up my wounds instead of putting on make up for a date. My whole life I was brought up - no, I was trained to be someone I wasn't.  At this moment, Game of survival by Ruelle starts to play through my headphones (Play music now if you want to for the experience :D )

~

"I want to leave," I say all of a sudden.

"What?" My uncle looks at me with confusion.

"I want to leave," I say again.

"Well it has been a while since you have been on holiday, you should go, take Guy too. Gets him out of my hair for a bit," He laughs while giving his son a friendly slap on his arm.

"No- I mean... I don't want to part of this life anymore-"

"What you mean suicide!, Yaz you know you can talk to me!" Guy widens his eyes.

"Jesus Christ no! I don't want to be part of this business anymore, I want my own life!" I say in frustration.

After both Guy and my uncle finally understand what I meant, they relax a bit.

"And what would you want to do?" Ricki questions.

"I don't know, I thought that the skills that I have could be used for good, like with the FBI," I say.

An eruption of laughter comes from my uncle.

~

I didn't feel like my self with my family, I didn't feel like my self when I took control of L.I. and now, my boss wishes for my failure.

~

"I don't know about you but I'm glad you won't be a risk to the team for the time being," Ryan said to me as I was checking in my bags at the airport.

"I was never a risk to my previous teams, so there was no reason for you to bench me for 5 months. I'm glad my leader in Boston trusted me, unlike you," I say in one breath.

"Aha and why do think he was so eager to get rid of you," He grabs my arm before I leave to the departure area, "As I said, no one wants you. No one trusts you. You will never have a place with us,"

I forcefully pull my arm away and storm my way towards security check.

~

The anger is flowing through my blood as my feet collide with the sand underneath me. I let out a scream that makes my throat hurt and I start to run faster, my feet sinking into the sand even deeper. My vision starts to get fuzzy as the tears quickly fill my eyes. Even though I can't see clearly I continue to sprint down the beach to release all this energy that has built up inside of me. Just as I was about to start slowing down my left shoulder crashes into something so hard that it sends me tumbling into the sand. Thankfully I reacted quick enough to put my right arm in front of me to stop me from getting a face full of sand.

"Oh my god, are you okay!" I hear someone say as they run up to me. I am blinded by the sunshine as I lay down on the sand until the person reaches me and stands in front of me. He offers his hand to help me up and I take it.

"Thanks," I say as I bend down to pick up my phone off of the sand, when I look up to see who the mystery man was, I am met with striking blue eyes.
