5. I'm the boss

Iolani Palace, 12:30pm

"Right so the team know the basics, why don't you go ahead and explain what we're doing," Steve says to me, gesturing his hand towards the interactive table.
"I could, but I don't know how to use it," I sheepishly smile.
"Jerry will be more than happy to help," Steve calls Jerry to the centre of the table next to me.
"Okay," I start to say after Jerry gives me an awkward smile and puts a picture of a man on the monitors in front of us, "So this is Seth Madla, he is the leader of a Filipino gang that operates here on the island. They've been on the radar for years but for really low-level crimes,"
"Let me guess, they decided to take it up a notch?" Danny says.
"They took it up several notches, they were involved in running illegal poker games and money laundering, until recently," I say and Jerry pulls up a picture of guns and a picture of a murder scene, "They started getting involved in arms dealing,"
"Okay, so we go in and arrest these sumbitches!" Lou says.
"That would be ideal but we would only be catching the smallest fish in the big ocean," I say to Lou, "Gangs like this one don't suddenly decide to change their game, someone else is behind this and we need to find out who before they convince other gangs to become more dangerous,"
"Where do we start then, I'm thinking the Yakuza, they're pretty big with weapons?" Tani suggests.
"No, I don't see how the Yakuza would benefit from this. They are one of the biggest players in the trade, more power than any of these gangs combined, they wouldn't need to mingle with anyone else," Jerry chimes in.
"Jerry's right, if this is a power play this would only create competition for the Yakuza," Steve says.
"If it is about power then maybe The Lang Family is involved, I hear they are pretty up there with the Yakuza-

I cut Junior off by clearing my throat, "It wouldn't be the Lang's, they've been on neutral grounds about sharing the weapons trade power with the Yakuza for years. There's no reason to break that truce now," I say then I realise that everyone is giving me a surprised look, "... at least that's what the CIA's information in the file leads to,"

With a little bit of a smirk on his face, Steve pulls out his phone, "I'll call Kamekona, he might have some information,"
"Kamekona?" I ask the rest of the team while Steve is on the phone.
"He used to be in the game, so for stuff like this he is usually a good place to start to get information about Hawaii's underworld," Tani explains to me.
"And not only that, he's a good source for some of the best shrimp you'll ever taste!" Lou laughs while rubbing his stomach.

"Alright, as always Kamekona has info we need but only if we go and have lunch at his place," Steve says when he comes back to join us after he ends the phone call, his news earns some groans from the others.
"Is he serious? we were just there this morning!" Danny complains. When Danny revealed that we would be going to the place we were at this morning, I couldn't help but smile to myself, once again remembering how I first met all these people.
"Well, we need the information so we don't have a choice, let's go," says Steve as he leads the pack out the door.

I pull my keys out of my bag when we reach the parking lot and press the button that unlocks my car, "Sweet ride!" Steve says when he notices the car that I drive, "Hey Danny I'll be riding with Yasmin if that's okay with you,"
"You mean I will actually get to drive my car for once, why would I not be okay with that?" Danny looks at Steve surprised.
"Wait, you drive his car?" I say to Steve
"Yup and now I'll be driving yours," He says and grabs my car keys. Before I get the chance to react Steve is already in the driver's seat of my car and Danny drives off laughing, leaving me standing in defeat.

I get into the passenger seat next to him and slam my door shut in annoyance. I turn to him, "This is my car,"
"I always drive," Steve simply shrugs his shoulders and starts the car, "I get carsick if I don't,"
I squint my eyes at him in disbelief, "So why don't you drive your own car?"
"Nah," was all Steve said as he drove onto the main road, making our way to Kamekonas Shrimp Truck. I let out a breath of anger and turn away from him when suddenly an image pops into my head that causes me to laugh.
