Chapter 23

Irina's POV

The drag race is tonight and I don't have a date. The ones that would be obvious to have dates and always get boys to fall to their knees for them is Lizbeth, Sandra, Clara and Monica. Boys always found something pretty about them which I could see why, but when it came to me it was always 'maybe you should straighten your hair' 'maybe you should wear contacts so people can see your hazel eyes' etc.

I was bullied most of the time through my years elementary and middle school but Sandra and Lizbeth always made sure to have my back. My mom worked two jobs for me and did everything she could to get me everything I ever at least wanted.  My dad passed away and left a will behind we never knew about which saved us from falling in poverty. He died of a drug overdose three years ago and it was the hardest thing my mother and my siblings ever had to go through.

So no I don't have the best clothes or the best self esteem but the best clothes I have I try to take care of. I guess my mom just wants to enjoy everything once I'm at a young adult so I become independent of her. But I want to be able to enjoy being confident right now with my friends. Go out and have a cute boy check me out for once and not my friends. It wasn't until I bumped into Clara and Andy right at the door.

"Hey Irina"

"Can I talk to you?" I asked as I grabbed her hand

"Uh..sure" she said as she looked back at Andy

"You girls go ahead..I'll catch up with..Sandra" he said as he walked off smiling at Clara

"What's wrong? You seem worked up" Clara said as she looked concerned

"I...I actually need Lizbeth here" I said

"You can talk to her later..tell me what's up" Clara said

"I need a makeover" I said as I grabbed both her hands

"A makeover? Like new hair color?" Clara asked as she looked at me with confusion

"No...I need everything for a change in me" I said

"Who's bullying yo-

"No one! Please for once I just want to do something different. I'm tired of being the black sheep out of all you girls, you, Lizbeth, Sandra and even Monica..every guy notices you guys... I mean for god sakes Aaron are on his knees for Lizbeth" I said. Then my eyes widen at the last part I said

"You're not trying to impress Gonzalo aren't you?"  Clara asked squinting her eyes

"...I just want to see whether he likes this Irina or hot supermodel Irina" I said putting my hands on my hips

"Irina..YOURE beautiful no matter what!!! If he can't see you for what you really are then-

"Oh stop! Just give me a makeover" I said. Clara looked at me for a minute "I'll think about it"

"I can live with that" I said not so excited as I wanted to be

"Can live with what?" I heard as Clara and turned to the side to see Aaron standing there with Lizbeth

"Nothing just girl stuff" Clara said awkwardly smiling

We all entered the cafeteria to get in line. Gonzalo was at the table all alone eating a sandwich, no Ricardo or Monica? I looked back to see Tony looking at the table with Gonzalo sitting at it.

"Hey guys I think Sandra and I are gonna sit with Gonzalo today I hope you don't mind Beth" Tony said as he looked at Lizbeth

"No, no not at all...I'm sure he's not having a good day" she said
