Lizbeth's POV

Aaron and I sat down at a booth by a window. Our orders came by, Aaron ordered a southwest chicken salad while I ordered a chicken roasted salad. We sat there eating our food not saying a word, his presence was amusing, I liked it but part of me didn't want to but he's different. He's more sweet, laid back unlike Gonzalo....unlike him. He seemed more complex. Just by the very little time we've spent today I could already tell these traits about him that maybe his friends couldn't.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked taking a bite of his salad. He snapped out of my thoughts

"I'm sorry.. about Fernando...he's..he's overprotective" I said giving me a slight smile even though Fernando wasn't the person I was thinking about

"and you're very lucky to have someone who looks out for you like that, I can't imagine why" he said smiling

"Yeah me neither" I said but only I knew why

"Does your mom mind you being out later after school?" He asked sounding concerned

"Yeah but she knows I'm not out here doing things I shouldn't be" I said as I took another bite of my salad

"Right, I just don't want her getting a bad impression of me" he said looking a bit off

"Yeah..she doesn't exactly like much people from the South" I said looking down. I didn't what to see his reaction to that.

"Why is that?" He asked. I looked down and then up at him debating what to say

"My dads from the South" I said

"I'm assuming they're not together" he said as he cringed at saying that

"It's okay it doesn't phase me anymore, she assumes every guy from there has no good intention...she's not wrong" I said. He looked a bit offended

"But you're different...far different" I said looking deep into his eyes

"My mother always used to tell me how North girls were nothing but sluts, they liked trouble and getting guys money...but maybe that was her time...you're far different" he said as he grabbed my hand from across the table

"I guess your mother hates girls from North Philadelphia" I said sarcastically

"I hope she likes you" He said

I didn't say much after that. I had no idea what he meant. After we finished eating, we stood up and exited out the diner waiting for Ricardo to arrive. I'm surprised he agreed to this..we haven't talked in two years. Ricardo eventually pulled up signaling for us to get in. We got in as Aaron got in the back with me I wasn't expecting him to but I'm glad he did.

"How was the lunch?" Ricardo asked focusing on getting out of the parking lot

"I guess Martinez and I are good now" Aaron said putting his hand behind my back

"Good" He said looking into the rear view mirror

The drive from the diner to my house was only ten minutes, eventually coming to a stop which was in front of my house. I was expecting to walk out of the car myself but I saw Aaron getting out too. I stopped and looked back at Ricardo who nodded at me meaning he'd wait for Aaron to drop me off at my door. We walked up the stairs as we stopped at my door before my mom or anyone comes out here to say some smart shit.

"Thank you for today, I woke up thinking I'd come home and nap and go on with my life" I said smiling at him

"I woke up thinking I'd hang out with the boys after school but I bumped into you" He said winking at me...definitely not in a sexual way and I really liked that
