Chapter 8..

I couldn't help but notice a spring in my mom's step as she slipped inside the house, walking through the glass doors effortlessly.

My mom has always been perfect at everything. From walking to sleeping, she always looked perfect and did everything effortlessly.

I saw my dad come around the corner as I entered the house, still shaking from what happened earlier this morning.

My dad has light green eyes with flecks of dark blue in them. His jaw bone is strong and prominent, and his lips are a soft pink. He has a straight nose line and was quite attractive and looked young for a man his age.

Both my parents looked about 10 to 15 years younger than what they really were.

My dad was 48 but he looked not a day older the 35. My mom was 45 and she didn't look older than 30.

I always thought it was something genetic? My Grandparents on both sides look young for their ages too. I hope I inherited whatever anti-aging gene this was.

I sat down on the long couch, moving backwards until my back hit the backrest of the couch. I brought my legs up from the ground and crossed them on the couch. I entwined my fingers and placed them in my lap, nervously playing with the hem of my t-shirt.

My mom and dad sat down across from me on the long couch with a coffee table separating us. I looked up and saw that they were holding hands. They were always so in love. After so many years, it was so special. My mom wasn't able to move without my dad noticing it and helping her with whatever it was that she was doing. Even without saying anything he'd know what she'd want him to do.. Wait?

'Without saying anything?', my mind wondered.. They've known about this for long..

"Sweetie," my eyes bolted up at my dad. "Yea.." I said, my voice coming out more nervous than what I thought it would.

"What happened to you today," be began "is completely normal." I looked up at him, I furrowed my brows in confusion. "For the Johnson's." He corrected proudly.

My mom saw my need for further explanation and her melodic voice tuned in, "Sweetie, were werewolves too. We're so sorry that we weren't there for you, but it was only supposed to happen when u turned 18, and we thought we'd have enough time to figure out how to tell you."

My eyes widened with shock, "But I'm 16.." I said, my voice sounding nervous "Is there something wrong with me?"

"No honey, you're perfect." My dad said. "You've just met your mate." My mom explained.

"My what?"

"You're mate, sweetie." My mom chimed.

"What?"

"Every wolf has a mate. Just like any other animal in nature, but wolves take it more seriously. Wolves bond for life. Once you've met your mate, your wolf will no longer have any other reason to live - but for her mate."

"Are you and dad mates?" I asked curiously.

My dad smiled and my mom's face turned a bright red as she giggled like a school girl. My dad looking directly at my mom, said "Yes. We are, and I love her more and more every day." His eyes never left my mom's face as it turned up and she smiled, it looked like they were falling in love all over again.

"I don't understand?"

"All in due time sweetie," my mom said breaking her eye contact with my dad. I looked down and saw that I still had the anklet on that my mom gave me. But how? My clothes all turned to shreds.

"What's wrong darling?" My mom asked concerned. "My anklet.. It's still here.." I said confused. "It's what allowed me to speak to you while you were in your wolf form," my mom explained "If a wolf, gives another wolf a personal item that previously belonged to them, then they can speak telepathically while in wolf form."

"The reason the anklet didn't break is because it symbolises that bond. That's why I gave it to you, so that if something like this happened I would be able to find you, well - not this mate thing, but if you were to run into some trouble later on in life.." She trailed off..

I had so many questions that I wanted to ask them. There's so much that I didn't know about my heritage or how any of this worked, let alone why it happened. I had a hundred questions floating through my mind and I couldn't grasp onto one before a new one popped into it's place. Which happened every 2 seconds.

"But how do I know?.." I asked worried. "How do you know what Honey?" My dad asked, quite eager to answer whatever question was coming his way.

"How do I know who my mate is?"

My mom smiled shyly and said, "You'll never be the same after you've met him. Every ounce of your wolf's being will want to be with him. His smell will intoxicate your lungs and you'll feel as if your drowning in a pool of never ending sparks that race through your blood, and you never wanna leave."

"Oh.." I sighed. Apparently it looked like I need more of an explanation.. Right now, all the explaining in the world wasn't enough.

My mom and dad looked at each other, and in sync they both held out there wrists in my direction. Showing an identical tattoo on both of their wrists. A full moon with 3 rough claw marks, etched into the side of the moon, in a pale orange ink.

"Your mates presence trigger the tattoo to begin it's formation." My dad said as I traced my thumb over my wrist where my skin was on fire barely 12 hours ago. It was soft and cool now. The pale orange ink now rested where the orange light eluminated from last night.

My tattoo was the upper body of a strong wolf that was holding up a full moon next to it's face, with it's claws etched into the sides of the moon.

My mom yelled with excitement and said "This is so exciting.." While looking my dad in the eyes.

"What's going on?" I asked curiously.

"And your wolf is white.." She continued.

"Yeah, so?"

"And your tattoo.." It was dad's turn to play the 'Let's confuse Jennifer Game'.. Great.

"Can someone please explain what's going on!" I snapped. I was already so in the dark about this whole thing and they just kept pushing me further into it.

"You're an Aplha."
