Ok I triple checked and there IS action in this chapter! Even dialogue! Yay!

The first class they had together was chamber choir. The teacher was very precise in how people should be ordered. It would take the whole class period just to organize everyone in their seats (first day stuff, am I right??). So Kousei was about to go insane from his current uselessness in the class until he heard someone said "Hey."

He turned around and saw a girl just shorter than himself. She was a brunette like Tsubaki, but a little less colorful, like a strawberry brunette if that's even a thing. Darkish brown eyes stared back at him with the pupil's dilated so the brown was only slightly visible. She stared back at him, waiting for a response.

"Hey," said Kousei. "Uh, what's going on?"

Sakura smiled at his insecurity. "Well, the teacher is organizing all the guys into their seats for the rest of the period, and it looked like you were going insane from boredom over here, so I decided to help you out!"

To Kousei, the sound of her voice was comparable to that of an oboe. "Wow, I guess you read me pretty well. Didn't mean for you to feel sorry for me, though."

"Nah, it's fine. I'm in the same position as you too, being bored and all."

Kousei could only stare. For some reason, he didn't think the girl usually acted like this, going out and introducing herself to others. "So, uh, is chamber choir usually this boring?"

Sakura laughed. "I actually don't know yet. My junior high classes were much more lively, probably because we all knew each other."

Kousei smiled shyly. "Yeah, if only that could happen here."

"But I'm trying to make it that way." She paused for a bit. "I'm Sakura Nakamura, by the way."

"Oh, I'm Kou..."

"I know who you are," Sakura interrupted. Kousei just stopped and stared back in awe. "Sorry," said Sakura. "I should have let you introduce yourself properly. My apologies."

Kousei stopped to think, but still stared at her. "I hate to ask this, but do you have any friends?"

Sakura blinked, then burst out laughing. "Oh my, what kind of a question is that? Where did that come from?" she said, still laughing and holding her arms to her sides.

Kousei realized that mistake and said "Sorry, that was kind of awkward. Forget I said anything."

"Were you trying to get me to bother someone else in the class or was it a legitimate question?"

Kousei shook his head trying to remove himself from the conversation topic. "No, sorry. Probably shouldn't have said anything. I'm bored, well not anymore, so please don't go bother someone else. And you seem like someone who would have lots of friends. I guess just not in this school, right?"

Sakura recovered from her laughing fit long enough to say, "Well then, I guess I don't have to answer that question if you already know."

There was an awkward silence for a moment, then they suddenly both tried to talk at the same time. But they couldn't figure out who was going to speak first because the teacher called everyone to sit down to hand out music and syllabus and all of that stuff.

So there's the beginning of the action! And just so yall know, this isn't one of those fall-in-love-quickly stories. I take my time.

P.S. if you've ever seen the anime "My Teen Romantic Comedy" use Yui Yuigahama from that show as a reference to what Sakura is like. <https://oregairu.fandom.com/wiki/Yui_Yuigahama>
