You had decided that some time to yourself before executing this plan was probably best. No matter what angle you approached it from, it was hard to have the confidence to go through with what you were doing.
If this didn't work...You didn't even want to ponder the thought. Hongjoong left you in the lounge room as he took Axel home.
Your ex being a mortal, meant he was unable to truly assist in what was too happen. He felt more comfortable being in his own surroundings so he bid you goodbye and good luck before leaving.
You had been too caught up within your own thoughts which stormed your mind to notice Hongjoong's return.
It wasn't until he had taken a seat beside you that you realised he was here with you.
"How are you holding up?" He asks you in a voice which is laced with concern. It was something you didn't think he was capable of.
Tilting your head to glance at him, you notice he has managed to soften his entire expression. If he didn't have that red eye which stared right through you, you would almost believe him to be a mortal who was genuinely worried about you.
"About as well as one might expect," You respond with a courteous smile, unsure as to how else you were meant to be presenting yourself.
"We'll get him back," The silver haired male mutters, almost in a way that reassures himself along with you. "I don't know about you but I'm terrified."
This surprises you. Your eyes widen ever so slightly but you hope the other doesn't pick up on the subtle adjustment to your expression.
"I don't know what I'll do if this doesn't work," He continues. "I've gone for a century without Seonghwa and even spent the majority of that time despising every inch of his existence. But I don't think I would be able to deal with myself if this fails."
"It won't fail," The words leave your lips in a hushed tone. "We have to believe it'll work."
Hongjoong doesn't verbally respond as he opts to just nod slowly at your words. You felt he still had an overwhelming amount of doubt. You certainly did.
You notice a soft smile almost crawling out onto his lips, yet it comes to a crashing halt as you are joined by a third-party presence before the couch. It shocks you immensely as you quickly recognise the dark haired male.
Seonghwa immediately raises a hand in an almost surrender position – yet also a gesture for Hongjoong to remain seated on the couch as he only focused on you. Silently, he extends another hand in your direction, the familiar softness to his eyes.
"I need to talk with you, please," The please thrown at the end of this leads you to believe that he thinks he must sound almost desperate for you to even consider going with him. "I promise I won't hurt you or...touch you. Yesterday was a mistake and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
"How'd you get in here?" All the kindness you had been hearing from Hongjoong over the past amount of time was gone within an instant. His eyes glared into the depths of Seonghwa's as he chose to remain firmly planted within his seat.
"Do you think any good King wouldn't be able to break into whatever place he wanted to go?" The King responds with a refrained stance. He was unsure as to how much he should give away to his former friend.
"A good King should never be required to utilise force on his subjects," The silver haired male isn't too keen on letting Seonghwa leave as quick as he had entered. "Shouldn't all the doors be opened, begging for your entrance if you're such a good King?"
