"She killed all of them and missed me," Zac tells Brent in a terrible whisper, back in his armour and cape. "With a force thing like in Star Wars."

"That's what I said," Brent says as they high-five.

I ruined my new cape, leaving it as a scrap on the floor next to the dead bodies as we travel away from the scene. In all honesty we have kind of abandoned everything we planned, after the kidnapping and my, well, new additions we just wanted to move on. After searching the centre of the labyrinth and coming out empty handed, we had decided to move onward.

"So where are we actually going?" Amber says. "We're just walking around."

"I am aware," I say. "We're going to kill a Minotaur."

They both whirl around and curse, "Are you stupid?"

"You're deranged."

"Think about it," I halt them. "We literally were at the centre of the labyrinth, where we supposedly would have made it out. Yet there was nothing there, just a blind spot for the Minotaur. That thing is the key for us to get out of here."

Brent screws his face up in dismay, "Fuck. Fuck. This is terrible, this is the worst."

"Cut it out Amber," Scarlet says quietly, deep in thought. "It isn't helping. We're running out of time, that thing is going to find us and we still need to figure out our best approach."

"We hunt it," I say. "Swarm it and kill it."

"Have you no mind?" Brent grimaces. "We should take it by surprise and murder-"

"We need to do both," Zac says, his mother's tactical attributes coming into play as he begins to formulate a plan. I just hope it works.

                                                                                          -----

The tall creature sniffs and growls, a pair of longhorns protruding from it's skull, furry shoulders broad and muscled, torso large with a leather skirt wrapped around the thing's waist, legs ending in hooves. In it's grip it holds a large ax with a bloody edge, chest heaving as it stares down at the corpse chopped into pieces. My stomach churns.

"Hey!" I call.

It whips his bullhead around, a bejeweled septum piercing hanging low as it lets out a deep growl. Drool pools down his chin, textured grey skin flushing a deep red as it's eyes land on me. It paws it's hooves on the dirt floor, propelling itself forward and barreling towards me. I'm already running.

My wings aren't tucked behind me properly, causing slight drag, slowing me for seconds before I correct myself. I round the corner, feet pushing myself onward realizing my error on choosing myself. The monster decreases distance, it's hoof-falls increasing in sound, breath brushing my wings.

I turn the corner and duck just as Zac's flaming hammer swings and hits the Minotaur's skull. The beast stumbles backwards and releases a roar, yet otherwise seems somewhat unaffected. My heart drops, yet I stand, pulling two poisoned blades from my boots as Scarlet launches himself at the monstrosity, colliding hammer with ax.

I fling the two blades at the beast; one sinks deep within it's hip however the other one bounces off; tough skin. The thing roars in displeasure, it's skin bubbling at where the impact tuck place before fizzing out, not doing anything further. Any normal demon would be screaming and paralyzed within seconds. Zac lands a blow at the creature's ribs before ducking underneath a swipe, which is followed through with a knee to his broken nose. Zac cries out and stumbles away, tears pricking his eyes as he let's out a groan.

I take his place, using my shield to bat the creature's ax from Zac's course. It lodges into the earth, deeper than the soft soil. I stab, swipe, bash and plunge my weapons relentlessly at the creature, breaking skin unaffectedly as if it's just some scratches and bruises. The Minotaur doesn't even focus on me, trying to dislodge the ax from it's position, managing to pull it away, stumbling backwards.

It looks at the two of us, it's face contorting into a fearsome image which is probably a smirk.

Zac and I rush him, ducking and attacking at different intervals, trying to be quicker than the strong beast. We land blows, yet so does he, catching me with flat side of the ax causing me to fly backwards onto my back, my wings surprisingly dampening the fall and encasing me. They open and push me upwards so I land on my knee, somewhat smoothly.

I decide to take advantage of this, trying to bat my wings as I rush into the fight once more, my feet leaving the floor and my blade swinging; I slice the beast's ear off. It roars, the sheer agony causing the earth to tremble beneath us. It kicks Zac out of the way. I plunge my blade forward but it catches it, it's beady black eyes looking into mine. It snatches my weapon away and chucks it like a toothpick.

It brings down it's ax on my head, only I kneel and cover myself with my shield; the might weapon leaves a dent into my protection. I roll out of the way and onto my arse, shuffling backwards allowing Zac to slam his hammer in the creature's knee, causing a sickening crunch to echo throughout the labyrinth.

Brent slips from the shadows and launches multiple icicles into the monsters back, just as Zac slams his emblazoned hammer into the thing's chin. The Minotaur becomes dazed, tripping on itself and falling backwards, narrowly missing Brent. Amber gets cocky and tries to plunge his long sword directly into it's head, going against the plan.

"Brent!"

It's too late. The Minotaur grasps him by the arm and yanks, a belly-rolling pop resounding. Amber cries out placing his hand onto it's arm, infusing ice into the creature's wrist. It grumbles and launches my peer down this strip of the maze, landing with a crunch.

It's practically impossible to kill this thing. Unless we aren't supposed to.

Zac releases a cry, releasing a flurry of blows, his entire being erupting in flames. He furiously retaliates, meeting slices with punches, pain with hits and slashes with strikes. The Minotaur looks up for the challenge, eagerly taking on an angered son of Wrath; never piss of a wrath demon.

I rush in defenseless, my mind somewhat certain on my target. My wings once again propel me upwards, only this time I land on the Minotaur's shoulders, unstable as it tries to bat me off whilst deflecting a demon fireball. I grasp another dagger, wrapping my legs tight around the monster's neck. I grasp the strangely gorgeous and unique septum piercing, wedging the blade beneath the large, tyrian purple jewel, managing to releasing it from it's socket as I get shaken off of the creature's body and land on the floor with a thud. My head crashes into the soil and I release an almighty groan, closing my eyes from the impact.

Time stops.

The gem glows in my palms as I look around, noticing that the Minotaur has become a pile of ash on the floor. I look to Zac to see he's dimmed, armour tinged red from the extreme heat. He stares at me in confusion, before realization hits him. He turns and runs to his friend and I closely follow, noticing the jewel intensifying in brightness. I don't check Brent's well-being, only placing his hand onto the stone as well as Zac's.

The world flashes purple.
