"Your Nanote is unique, Tony hacked the AI and now it works at full capacity, before we break out we'll need to study the map to the earth shard." Khalid tells me as he walks out. "Rest well my friend, you'll need it for tomorrow".
Only I and Rosita are left.
"You've got a lot going on, want to share?" She says coming closer putting her hand in mine.
I feel my heartbeat getting faster and butterflies in my tummy.
"It's all happening so fast, this entire thing, and now there might be an invasion already without us knowing who to trust or not." I tell her.
"We'll go through it all together, you, me, the team, I'll be here for as long as I can." She stares deep into my eyes.
I stare back.
We share a kiss.

The next day Phase two restarts and it finally gets to my turn, I've been avoiding Rosita all day and I don't know why. Then I see her across the hall laughing with Johann and I feel hurt.
"Get your head back in the game cadet!" Agent Medusa shouts.
"Uhh, yeah, sorry about that." I reply.
"You wouldn't be telling the invaders that now would you?" She says mockingly. She puts a headgear similar to mine with some modifications. "Empty your mind".
I zero my mind trying not to think of anything, not to think of Rosita.

All of a sudden I have a vision of a family, a man with partly grey hair and beards, a very beautiful woman with three kids, a boy and girl probably twins and a smaller boy who looks about 5 years old. They're having dinner and laughing. Then the scenario changes the man is standing and protecting his family from something, the insect man, he has a pistol in his hands aiming for the creature.
Blam, blam, blam.
He fires into the Insect man's chest, but the bullets bounce off and the it impales him with a shard which immediately burns up the man's body.
"The shard of a thousand stars." a husky voice says.
The woman is saying something to the older kids and they take their junior brother and run while the insect man kills her. They come to the edge of a cliff and are trapped.
I try to run towards them to save them but I can't move. Then the children turn towards me and turn into insect men.
"Wake up!!!" A voice from above says.

I come to and see everyone looking at me in shock. I see Rosita too.
"Your stats are off the charts, what happened in your head?!". Agent Medusa asks.
"I tried to save them, I couldn't move, I couldn't save them." I reply.
"That's enough for you today, see you next time, avoid stressing your mind." Agent Medusa says.
