Chapter 6: The Training Ground

"The twelve shall become one..."

I woke up drenched in sweat on my bed and surprisingly no one was around me. It felt like day zero. I had a splitting headache and was really hungry. Just then I heard voices and my door swung open.

"He's finally awake." Miriam said.

"You've been unconscious longer than you've been awake." Rosita added. "We got you good, I'm sure you're hungry."

"What happened up there?"Ayodele asked.

I remembered what Tony told me.

"I can't remember guys, I'm sorry but everything is still a blur".

By the time I was done eating the voice in the walls came on again calling us for an assembly.

"There's been a recent development and things have changed, your training begins now, share yourselves into groups of fives now." The hologram man said.

I already had a team but we were only four then Vladimir walked up to us and with his thick russian accent said "Vladimir needs group, ve five of us make pretty good team".

We were complete.

Just then a part of the assembly floor gave way to form a descending stairway.

"Follow the stairway to the training ground, that's were all your preparations will take place." The hologram man said.

We all followed the stairway to the end and came to an open space with blue walls and at the far end were seats in groups of fives, battle suits and varying weapons.

"Get a battle suit, suit up and get back here."

The battle suits weren't to be worn like manual clothes but were made of tiny moving particles which we later learnt were nanites and responded to each fingerprint as long as it had your number on it. Once touched it materialized around your body.

"The Nanote version 11.5, prototype of earth's most advanced battlesuit yet, you will master these suits as soon as possible because unfortunately for us everything has changed." The hologram man said.

"You have to become one with your suit, let it become a part of you". A female voice said as someone came down the stairs with a weapon that looked like a gun, "My name is Agent Dimitri, and I'm your training instructor in this hellhole so playtime's over children".

Then I saw her face, she was tall with dreadlocks tied into two pigtails and had the number zero on her Nanote, She wasn't smiling and she came to a stop about 16 feet away then aimed her weapon at Rosita.
