(17) Figuring Jackal's Plan

Peter woke up early on Sunday, the 8th of October. He woke up on the couch at 6 AM from his alarm going off. He turned it off & got off of the couch, making his way to the kitchen to make himself some breakfast.

He ate four eggs, two pieces of toast, six strips of bacon, & five breakfast sausages. His intense metabolism urged him to eat more, but he couldn't eat all of the food & save it for lunch.

He checked his phone. Michelle & Ned texted him a few times last night after he went to bed in their group chat.

MJ: Jackal was just spotted robbing the Baxter Building, the police say he stole something called an Organic Molecular Distillation

Ned: I'm assuming he fell asleep already, but I thought I should tell you all that Jackal has been spotted fighting the web-warriors after the robbery. Maybe they aren't apart of this after all

MJ: The police weren't able to find the tunnels, the anonymous tip you sent in didn't work & the police stopped the search

Ned: We're both just worried, you need to stop these guys. I'm worried sick for you, Miles, MJ, & myself. I can't even sleep

MJ: I might not be able to sleep either, they tried to kill Peter & Miles, Idk if I'll be able to rest until this is over

Peter: Just know that we can do this, Miles & I will stop them, you guys don't have to worry, good morning btw

Peter smiled at her texts, he set his phone down & walk to his room to find out how the mutation worked.

Peter was sitting in his room that he turned into a makeshift lab, he was sitting at his desk with a microscope in front of him. Peter's blood was displayed on the microscope slide. He was looking at the enzymes in his blood take over the DNA of an insect & kill the insects existing DNA.

He rolled over to his other desk in an old office chair, he wrote the time it took for the radioactive enzymes to takeover the insects.

He started writing down formulas & speaking to himself.

"As the DNA is transcribed into RNA it needs to be edited to remove non-coding regions or introns. This editing process involves removing the introns, leaving only the protein-coding regions or exons", Peter said to himself.

"English please", Miles said as he sat up from the bed, he had just woke up. "Nerdiest alarm clock ever".

"Well maybe you can sleep on the couch this time & I can have my bed, that way I don't wake you up at 9 in the morning", Peter said, he continued to write down the formulas.

Miles rolled over on the bed & went back to sleep.

"If the pre-mRNA goes through the modification in the nucleus which only cuts out the introns, leaving the exons in the SRY gene, then the Y chromosome would be modified to accept the radioactive enzymes from my blood", Peter whispered to himself.

"But women don't have the Y chromosome", Peter thought aloud. "That's why all of the women tested on were killed by the substance, the X chromosomes couldn't be modified for the change & the enzymes took over the DNA & overridden it".

"But the only reason the X chromosomes aren't responding to the radioactive enzymes because the only enzymes in your bloodstreams have been modified to Y chromosomes", Miles said as he got up from the bed. "So if Jackal could remove your DNA from the enzymes...".

"Then he would be able to change anyone he wants into spider-people", Peter finished the sentence. "He stole a device capable of doing so".

"So even if his plan is to turn humans into his own spider-people, how would they be able to spread & control them", Miles asked?
