(16) Helping my Enemy

Peter & Miles stopped at May's first. Relieving her worries, but they didn't stay around for long. They both stripped out of their suits & changed into normal clothing.

Miles had to wear Peter clothes, but that didn't matter at the moment. They sprinted back to Miles' house before his curfew at 9 PM.

Peter stood behind Miles at the door as he knocked & waited for Ms. Jones to open the door, which she did. But to Peter's surprise, Miles & him were invited in & Ms. Jones shared a bright & warm expression with Peter.

Ms. Jones stepped in front of Peter & Miles.

"I'm so glad you two are safe", Ms. Jones said. She opened her arms & wrapped them around Peter & Miles. "Michelle was worried sick about you".

Miles & Peter were confused.

"What was she worried about exactly", Peter feared that Michelle may have told her mother about Spider-man & Shadow Spider. But if she did, he was confused about why he wasn't being killed.

"She told me", Ms. Jones said, scaring both Peter & Miles for a second. "You got Miles' an internship in the Avenger's facility with you. When she heard it collapsed she told me everything".

"Yeah", Peter accepted the story that Michelle made up. "But I never would have if I knew this would have ever happened".

Miles was happy that he didn't need to explain his injuries.

"Are you guys okay", Ms. Jone asked? She now noticed the cuts on Peter's face & the bruising on Miles'.

"Yeah, we were stuck for a while, but Peter got us out", Miles said. He didn't get to explain how they got all cut & bruised up because Michelle entered the room.

"Mom, who was at the door", Michelle asked? She opened her door & looked around the living room. Her eyes were slightly red & she was very shaky.

Peter turned to her as she noticed him. Michelle ran to them. Wrapping her around her brother & her boyfriend.

"Oh my god", Michelle said as she held them both tightly. "I was so worried, I didn't know if you were coming back, what happened, why didn't you call"?

Michelle had a million questions, but didn't care if they were answered, she was just happy to see the two again.

"The signal was jammed, we couldn't", Peter said as Michelle let go.

Ms. Jones tugged at Miles shirt, they both walked away.

"Where did you get these clothes", Ms. Jones asked before her voice faded away & out of Peter's hearing.

"I'm so sorry MJ", He wrapped his arms around her again & pulled her in tight. He didn't care that every muscle in his body hurt, he just wanted to stay close to her.

"What happened, why didn't you get out", Michelle asked? She released Peter from the hug & stood in front of him, looking down so he couldn't see her beat red eyes.

"We-", Peter started to speak, but remembered he was only feet from her mother. He turned around, "Can we speak privately"?

"Of course", Ms. Jones said, raising her hand to Michelle's door. Peter was going to have to get used to Ms. Jones being nice to him.

Michelle leads him to her room & locked it behind them.

"Are the others okay", Michelle asked?

"They lied", Peter said, referring to the same people. "They were with him, the Jackal, the hole time. We trusted them & let them in, but they were working for him".
