Tony woke up to a burning pain in his chest, this wasn't new. However this morning he was graced with a migraine and sore throat. If you know anything about being sick a sore throat usually means you're going to cough at least once. And for Tony coughing was like having the arc ripped out of his chest.

So in one word... painful

His eyes squinted in the bright lighting, but he sighed in content when Jarvis dimmed the lights. "Thanks j" he mumbled, not planning on leaving the bed today. He hadn't had time to himself recently and being sick was the perfect excuse.

Or so he thought.

"Sir, I apologize but Mr.Rogers is expecting you in the common room" said the AI with a hint of remorse.

"Alright, I'll be right there it might take me a-ouch-minute" he groaned as he pushed himself out of bed.

"But sir, you have a slight fever and other symptoms of a cold. With your arc the cold could transform into a worsening condition without rest"

"If cap calls I have no choice, you know how it is J" he said through his teeth as he changed into a baggy shirt and sweats.

"I should also add that Mr.Rogers has asked me to tell you to 'hurry up'. He's a bit pestiferous isn't he"

"That he is J" Tony winced and headed down to the common room. Thankfully J knew to dim the lights as he walked through, and even went as far as dimming them in the common room. Which unfortunately didn't last long.

"Hey! Jarvis turn the lights up again. It's like a cave in here" oh no.

"You called cap" Tony winced trying to stifle a groan of pain. His body suddenly felt too weak and he fought the urge to sit down.

"Clint's arrows need fixing"

"Not right now though tones, you can do it whenever" Clint said offering a concerned glance and a light smile.

"No, you need to do them now what if there's a mission. While I'm at it, Nat's knifes need reforming and my shield needs a fresh coat of pain"

"I was going to take a day, I need rest-"

"No you slept last night, get to work" yeah for like a half hour before I woke up with nightmares, but not that you'd know that cap.

Tony was too tired and weak to respond so he dragged himself to the labs. Collapsing in his chair, he lazily pulled up the schematics for the new arrow heads.

He finished the arrows in about three hours. By that time he'd had thirty seven coughing fits, nearly collapsed twice from weakness and dizziness, and was incredibly and obviously tired. Even DUMME knew and he didn't have eyes.

He made the long trek to the kitchen to grab food, he needed some form of energy and he didn't trust coffee to sit well with his head. When he made it into the room he opened the fridge looking for the milk. When he found it he strained his already weak muscles to pick it up and put it on the counter top. He grabbed the lucky charms and poured some in a bowl, pouring the milk in after and putting everything away.

The simple task of getting cereal took so much out of him he had to sit at the bar to eat. Again he didn't trust himself, this time to carry the bowl down to the lab without spilling it.

He sighed and spooned a scoop of cereal to his mouth, but before he could put it in his mouth he heard a voice.

"Ton are you finished with the weapons"

"Not yet cap, I finished Clints arrow heads and they're being made" he responded placing the spoon back in the bowl to give cap his attention, no matter how much it was slipping.

"You've been down there for four-"

"Three"

"Don't interrupt me Stark, hours and it usually takes you a half hour to finish the newest upgrade to the arrows"

"Sorry cap I'm a little slow today, to be honest I don't feel great"

"Don't try and get out of it by pulling the sickness card Tony, get to work. Just take your cereal down with you"

So Tony did exactly that, and like he expected he spilt it just as he stepped into the lab. He simply sighed and placed the now empty bowl on a countertop.

He collapsed once more into the chair and clutched his chest as his body was wracked with coughs. When he managed to calm his breathing he realized he was shaking. His hands felt awfully slow and he tried to swipe away one of Nat's knives holograms, but he didn't have the strength to lift his arm enough.

In fact he didn't have the strength to hold himself up anymore. His body slumped as it fell from the chair, he landed on his left shoulder with a crash and sharp pain. He was too dizzy and tired to call out for help, or figure out what Jarvis was saying.

He must have zoned out because the next thing he knew, there were hands pulling him up and helping him into a chair.

"Tony, look at me. What's wrong" he focused his eyes and looked into Clint's face. He saw cap standing off to the left staring with a guilty look on his face. As he should.

"M'sick" was all he could mumble out, before his eyes unfocused again. He felt his disoriented body being lifted up and carried. After a short while he was placed on a soft surface and another soft object was placed over him.

A thermometer was stuck in his mouth and he heard the beep. "Yeah he's got a slight fever, Nat could you grab the fever reducers please. "Of course"

"Tony I'm so sorry"

"Stop cap, if there's one thing he doesn't need right now it's you and your half assed too late apologies." Clint snapped, climbing into bed to wrap his arms around a still shaking and disoriented Tony. Tony felt the familiar sense of hand running through his hair. "Shh, it's ok Tony. You're going to be ok, you don't have to do anything right now. You can spend as long as you need right here"

"Sound- mmnice" he mumbled and tucked his face into Clint's chest.

"Thank you Nat, Tony hey can you take these please" Bruce asked helping sit Tony up so he could swallow the pills.

Tony flopped back down and resumed his spot next to Clint. He felt a hand massaging his back and soon fell asleep, his eyelids becoming too heavy.

"Is he asleep?" Nat asked Clint, who nodded. "Steve Rogers come with me" she growled.

They made it half way across the tower until Nat decided she was far enough away so as to not wake Tony.

"Look Nat I-"

"Save it for the jury, you have no right to be acting the way you did. It was evident Tony wasn't doing well and yes we didn't do anything to stop him because he usually takes time for himself, but you denied that courtesy. For example when he grabbed cereal which mind you was the first thing he was going to eat since yesterday morning. He didn't even get to eat it because you barged in and demanded he drop everything and keep working, which guess what Cap you got your wish he did drop everything. Including the cereal, but he continued to work because you told him to" she took a breath, "you're supposed to be a leader, not a dictator. People are more inclined to follow someone when they think of their best interests. Better yet, when they give them the benefit of the doubt, Tony worked while sick until he collapsed or was your head too far up your self centered, egotistical, manipulative and pretentious ass to notice what just happened" she finished and left Steve with his mouth agape, yeah he messed up.

He messed up pretty damn badly, and it was for that reason that he didn't comment when his shield was painted hot pink and neon yellow.
