(A/N: probably a good time to mention that I don't really know how the police work either. Oh and Erin does not and will never leave Chicago pd, that being said- enjoy!)
Hank Voight POV
"Chicago Pd, detective Voight speaking," my raspy voice forced out. I can only live off of coffee for so long before even I became to tired.
"Hello? Yes I'm really worried about my neighbour, a young woman downstairs, there was a loud crash and something shattered but then it went remarkably quiet and I'm worried about her."
We deal with domestic abuse way too often and have had calls like this before, I was already grabbing my jacket and telling Erin to get ready.
"You did the right thing calling us ma'am, we will be there as soon as possible. Would you mind telling us where the woman downstairs lives?" Honestly people should start calls with the address.
"She lives at 12C Blackwood flats" before hanging up.
Hmmm 12c Blackwood flats. I know that address but where from?
"Hey, listen up. Erin and I are about to go investigate a possible abuse situation, at 12C Blackwood flats. Does that address mean something to anyone?"
I got a chorus of "nope" and other no's before Erin said yes.
"Yes, of course it does,"
And we all just give her a blank look before saying
"That's where Sarah Reese lives! We have to hurry!"
So we all but leapt into my car and sped off to her flat in desperate hope that she wasn't hurt. But i think we both knew that it was wishful thinking.
"I didn't even know that she had gotten a boyfriend, I should've screened him before I let him anywhere near Sarah."
Erin spoke out frustratingly.
"Hey, take it easy there champ there is no way you could've known that Sarah would date a scumbag" I spoke confidently. I won't lie and say that I don't feel something very special for Sarah because I do but I won't dare act on it. For now I can only hope that she is ok.
I pulled into a space in the car park and dashed out of my car and into the elevator up to the 12th floor. Erin would lock the car and take the stairs to make sure that there were no runaways.
Violently I hammered on the door calling out
"Chicago pd open up!"
After that got no response I stood aside to allow Erin to boot the door open before running inside with my gun raised. Now that we were inside I could hear Sarah crying So I immediately headed straight for her bedroom door. I busted the door open and demanded that nobody move as I felt Erins' presence just behind me. But the sight before me made us both drop our guns in shock.
Erin left to throw up and I simply stared in silence.
Beautiful Sarah Reese was kneeling in the shattered remains of the mirror with open cuts from her wrists all the way up to her shoulders on both arms and tear tracks all down her pretty face. She had squeezed her beautiful doe eyes shut tight and had her hands in the air as if I was going to shoot her. She was trembling so violently.3rd POV
Hank finally collected himself again and gathered Sarah into his arms and out of the glass shards to sit her on the bed as Sarah whispered hushed and frantic apologies. Erin came back smelling faintly of stomach acid but at least with the first aid kit from the car. She said down beside Sarah and tried to comfort or at least calm her a bit whilst I reached for the tweezers to fetch the shards out of her lower legs before Sarah frantically backed away.
"Sarah you're hurt, please let us help you." Erin whispered to Sarah. All the while Sarah was insisting that she was alright and that they should leave.
Hank didn't want to have to do this, he really didn't. But first aid boxes in police cars came with an hour long sedative. So when Sarah was still trying to push Erin away he hit her with the sedative and gently laid her down on her bed. While Erin looked on with disbelief.Erin POV
"You didn't have to do that." I whispered sharply to Voight as to not awaken Sarah. I can't believe that Voight actually just sedated her.
"Yes I did," he insisted in his usual raspy tone, "if those cuts get infected then Sarah has to go to the hospital and her- well, habit, will be found out and I highly doubt she will thank us for that."
Well, he isn't wrong. But that doesn't make him right either.
"You get on her wounds, I'll clear up the glass."
So I grabbed a dustpan and brush to clean up the mess, but my thoughts were racing. How did it get this far? How did I not know that something was wrong with Sarah? How did nobody else notice? What had happened? What do I do about it? I was at a complete loss as far as a plan. But I still quickly and quietly cleaned up and propped the empty mirror frame up against the wall. I got back just in time to see Hank gently tuck Sarah into bed, leave a light kiss on her head and put a note on her bedside table. But I did pretend not to have seen that.Hank POV
Erin got up to clean up the mirror and blood.
Blood, Sarah's blood. Because she had been pushed to the edge and was tearing herself open in despair and desperation. I didn't know why but i was going to find out. And for every step of the way I would be there for her. And I was positive that it was the same for Erin. I wondered whilst patching her up what had happened. Why she kept it a secret. How nobody noticed. How I didn't notice.
That want important right now. Right now the only thing that mattered was patching up Sarah. It was really hard to watch as my own hands because coated in Sarah's deep crimson blood but eventually every wound was disinfected and if it needed to be patched, then it was patched. I didn't want to wake her- she looked exhausted. But still undeniably beautiful.
I tucked her in and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. A kiss she would never know she got. And left a note with my number on, instructing her to call me when she woke up.3rd POV
"Hank," Erin whispered after gently closing the front door, "a lot of those scars are old. I think this has been happening for a while. How do we fix it for her?"
"I don't know just yet, but we need to go at her pace - not ours." Hank whispered back as the pair slowly descended the stairs down to the car park.
Erin wasn't surprised when Hank asked her to drive. She knew of his strong feeling towards Sarah and was ok to drive despite having thrown up only 10 minutes earlier.When they arrived at the station Jay was waiting to take Erin back home and was very shocked to see evidence of both Voight and Erin crying. Hank power- walked straight into his office and slammed the door while Erin fell into Jay's arms crying. He didn't know what had happened at Sarah's place but he still wrapped Erin up and took her home.
~~~Time skip~~~
As everyone lay in bed that night; Sarah who was trapped in a nightmare, hank who refused to sleep until Sarah called him, Erin who had thrown up again just before bed and Jay who was simply wondering what on earth had happened. All knew that this was a bumpy road ahead.
2nd chapter already yay!
See you later, love Lizzi
