"Before I met you I thought it made sense to be alone but after I became friends with you, I started to realize that by having one friend who stays by your side, that this world is not so lonely and it can be fun."

-- She Was Pretty

After mom dropped off the kids, we all went out for a little family day. It wasn't much, but it did remind the kids how much we claimed to love them. The amusement park in Corona, New York had always been a favorite of Addi, so they'd enjoy things there. I was planning on staying with the kids all day. Even if it meant taking them on rides that I thought were too embarrassing. Hayden chose to go find some place where he could hang out with random men who abandoned their wives and kids. Typical.

I can say that this was fun. It was nice to have my kids tell me that they loved me and Hayden was nowhere to be found to hear it. I really hoped that when the time came for some drastic changes, the kids would always be with me. It's not like I was going to create a problem. With a relationship like ours, there was something that both of us wanted to end. I could tell you a whole list of things, but I'm not Hayden. I don't tell people things they don't need to know.

"Mommy, I'm so tired," Addison exclaimed. "Can we go home now?"

"...Sure, baby girl." I took the twins' hands and we went to find Hayden. I really only knew of one place where Hayden would take cover. Why they would put something like that in an amusement park will forever be a mystery to me.

When we found him, I wasn't one bit surprised to see women all up on him. I wasn't even jealous. I put the kids far from him and ordered funnel cake and juices for them. I sauntered over to Hayden and the women who were practically throwing themselves at him. It was a sight to see and I almost laughed. Why did he think I wouldn't find him? I grew up in New York. I know how most of the women are.

"Excuse me," I said nicely. "Yep. Move. I have business with my husband."

One of the women gaped at me, then snorted in disbelief. What? Did she not think I could be married to a man who looked as good as Hayden? Sorry, but my standards weren't as low as her. I knew what I wanted my men to look like.

"Yeah, right," she snapped. "How can someone so good looking be married to someone as average as you?"

"Oh, it's possible, honey." I pushed her out the way and stood right beside Hayden. "Why do you always have to do something this stupid? It's really easy to find you."

"...I was hoping you would sooner or later," he muttered. "Kids ready to go?"

"Mhm. They're eating funnel cake right now."

"Good. I thought I was going to die from inhaling cheap perfume all day."

I choked back a laugh and reached across him to grab his drink. It was hilarious, because my chest was all in his face and I was legit not giving him a choice of looking away.

"Ooh, they still sell these?" I exclaimed. "I hope you didn't drink a lot. You're driving back home."

"Why do you always do this to me?"

"Do what?"

"Put me in a tight place."

"...I don't actually know. I just think it's fun to see you struggling sometimes."

Hayden pulled me closer to him and whispered in my ear. It sent shivers down my back, but I was really anticipating this promise.

"There's a punishment waiting for you at home," he said. I bit my lip and giggled.

"Got it." I kissed his cheek and left him to go back to the kids. "Let's go!" I exclaimed. "We'll go get something more to eat, then we're all going home."
