"A person's choices defines a person's life."

-- Unknown

There is, in any manner of speaking and presenting, no such thing as innocent. Even as a child, there are some things you have done that have your family questioning you. It can stick. Represent you in every way you don't want it to. Give you the very title everyone tries to avoid everyday. Liar. Untrustworthy. Guilty as charged.

Sha'Kayla didn't care about any of that. It was just how she was. She gets the scoop, then she gets her man. Or woman. Either would be good for her. Since taking up the title of being Bi and experimenting with it, she was content with holding up a good relationship with anyone she found who showed interest in her. It just so happened that Luca had her on his mind now. It was only a matter of time before she took Samantha along with him.

Whether she decided to mind or not, her plans weren't going far today. With only mere hours till the gala, it was possible someone could ruin what she wanted to do. Without even thinking of Sha'Kera being in town, she hadn't thought her best friend could be the sole cause of her being late to the meeting she finally wanted to go to.

"...What?" she snapped.

"What?" Sha'Kera put her hands on her hips. "Don't you what me. I don't know what you're up to here, but you need to get your story and leave. Luca and Lexi are fine on their own. If I hear you've messed up anything...you and your career are going down."

"Keke, there's no way you'd actually rat on me to my boss. No way," Sha'Kayla said and tried to push her best friend aside.

"Look here, queen, if Lexi comes to me saying she doesn't want to be in a relationship with Luca anymore because of you, you're going to have to deal with more than just me. Hayden is fond of you and you're fortunate I've been holding him back for this long."

"Has anyone told you you talk too much?"

"Sha'Kayla Anderson, this isn't a situation I want to be in right now. I'd rather be enjoying the day with Lexi and helping her get ready for the party, but no, you're--"

"Late for a meeting. You're really pissing me off, Keke. If we're so-called friends, then why are you all over me with going after Luca. I don't want him," Sha'Kayla lied. "If I did, he wouldn't be at his house right now."

"How do you know where he is?" Sha'Kera crossed her arms, but still made sure her friend couldn't go anywhere.

Sha'Kayla now knew she'd messed up. Yes, she may have been spying, but a little peeping never hurt anyone. If Luca knew she had been out there, she would have gone in to say hi. His parents still loved her. They'd do anything to get them engaged again. Knowing she was still the same girl she was over ten years ago, they'd accept her willingly back into their lives.

"Sha'Kera, why are you so worried about them? You literally hate Luca's guts and Lexi isn't really your best friend," She snapped.

"How would you know?" Sha'Kera growled.

"No one waits for their best friend to call them when you haven't called for longer than three years. I'm surprised she still calls you her friend."

The women stared at each other until one couldn't stand to be caught in a stupid game. Sha'Kayla looked away and crossed her arms to match her best friend. Or soon to be enemy. Neither one of them wanted to be near the other anymore. Sha'Kera wanted to snap the woman's neck standing before her like the sneaky whore she was.

"You'll be surprised at all the people who hate you," Kera snarled. "It's not just me, but the whole friend group, Lexi, Hayden, everyone working at the firm--"
